So what's the sping going to be. How many years now have folks been posting their excitement every year before the trade deadline hoping that some really good things will happen. Wait til next trade deadline, maybe something will happen.
Excuses are good but how many years are you going to make the same excuses. Alexander has to make a complete change in his front office and brain thrust immediately. Excuses can not make the Rockets a contender.
Well, folks here may say wait for the draft. Haven't we heard that before too? Didn't Morey practically trade for several 2009 high draft picks? The problem was they were all busts.

morey did his job and also saved us more cap space this offseaons. Rebounding and paint D was our biggest need and he plugged that hole. The players we current have arent appealing to other teams. Above average players dont want to come to a team that struggles to make the playoffs. With this move we get ride of bust flyn and hill and replace them with 2 more consistant vets with expiring contracts. We will have TONS of cap this summer to make future moves. Good Job morey . Also we got a 1st round pick for nothing , whats not to like. Stars want to play together or on contending teams. Thats the new nba .

All of them were cheap, most were throwin for random deals. He didn't draft them.

The only one which we actually really went out and got (as in, targetted) was Terrence Williams. While he hasn't worked out due to his attitude (despite his obvious talent), all we gave up a mid-1st rounder (making it a low risk move).

    how old are you zboy?

Thanks for offering nothing yet complaining. Awesome.

We did not get akeem from trade or free agent and that was before the current owner.

Every time, every single year we are dealing and making moves. This year was no different. We got better and people are still whining.

Milwaukee liked the ellis deal better than what we offered.
Remember we have to give up SOMETHING to get something. That is kinda how trades work, so we can't offer them our trash and expect to get something back for it.. but guess what?? that is what we did!

Hill sucks. Thabust sucks. Flynn sucks.
Camby is old but does not suck. and we get a pick.

Well put. To sum up, dating back to last year's trade deadline, Morey has exchanged:

--[seven weeks of Aaron Brooks] (RFA who wanted far more money than Rockets were willing to pay)
--[seven weeks of Shane Battier] (UFA who wanted to win with title contender)
    --Brad Miller's corpse

    And ended up with:

--Goran Dragic (key piece to playoff run and possible long-term backup PG)
--Marcus Camby (key piece to playoff run)
--draft rights to Donatas Motiejunas (key piece to Rockets' long-term future)

How anyone can complain about this is beyond me.

Both Kamen and Okafor didn't get moved. I think this says a lot about Stern's demands.

    Ah, the schadenfreude!

Stern's stubbornness has cost his owners at least $3 million, even had they traded Kaman for no picks. Meanwhile, Kaman might help them win a couple more games and hurt their high lottery pick.

    Congratulations, Hornets "ownership"!!!

Of course the roster is better now.

5.5 is better than 5. We changed from a 5-team to a 5.5-team, when you need to be at least an 8.5 to be a contender.

Dell Demps (GM for the Hornets) is quoted as saying that they have interest in keeping Dunleavy. A separate report says that the new ownership group (of which old Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy has a role) likes Kaman. Not sure if it's just posturing, but it's not unreasonable for them to want to retain Kaman's Bird Rights and have Kaman stay beyond this season.

That CP3 trade isn't working out so hot for them either. They have a sidelined Gordon who is going to cost near-max money next season if they want to retain him (that is if he doesn't sign the qualifying offer and bolt ASAP), and nothing else they got is working out so well either. Aminu has been bad and the Minny pick is looking pretty average.

I think the one difference this time around is that they didn't ship their upcoming FAs (Lee and Dragic) off for draft picks (they traded Battier and Brooks last season). They likely explored such trades, but probably didn't get good enough picks in return.

I am guessing this is because (1) they have greater desire to retain Lee and Dragic than they did Battier and Brooks, and (2) they are higher up in the standings compared to where they were at the deadline last season so improvement for this season is a bigger deal.

I'm actually pretty happy about it since I think a playoff run will probably be helpful to their goal of making the team attractive for a star player.

The Hornet's nest sure is a Hornet's nest. Best not stick your hand in there, and I'm pretty sure that was what all teams were thinking.

    This is so true.

When you make the playoffs the value of your assets rise up considerably. If we make the playoffs, we would be the only team other than the Nuggets in the west without an all-star to do that.

That says two things, we have great chemistry and a good coach. Or we have a incredibly good bunch of players.

If we make the playoffs, depending on how we do, the value of players like Lowry could go off the roof.

    As I have said.

Camby makes the team better. Good enough to make the playoffs surely...but I would rather have our own lotto draft pick in this years draft PLUS the opportunity to have the Knicks pick which may not be farther than ours in what many have said is a deep draft.
