The first trade was good. The second was probably just to back up Dragic for a couple of weeks.

Cmon bro. Camby is 58 years old. Nothing like tmac who was a young star at the time. Pau atlest has 4 to 5 years left.

Yeah let the big boys do whatever.....

This is Texas. Know when to hold and fold....

I think it was more about the pick. They were seeking a first round pick, mainly to make up for the one they are going to be missing out on this year if they make the playoffs.

Things need to be put in perspective.

We acquired a very useful expiring, Marcus Camby, a center and paint protector. What got him for Thabeet and Flynn and a second rounder.

Now, where did we get Thabeet? Thabeet was a throw in for the Battier deal, when our main priority was the pick.

Flynn was a throw in for a deal that we used to not only get rid of Brad Miller, but combined with the pick we got from Battier we used it to acquire D-Mo.

Hence, Flynn and Thabeet were garbage that we HAD to pick up to get a player who I think we can all agree, looks very promising.

So what did Morey do with this trash that we didn't even play? He turned them into Marcus Camby, a player who makes immediate contribution to our team and addresses our rebounding and defense problem. The only real cost was a 2nd round pick, which we can easily buy.

Now as for Fisher, Hill was inconsistent, Clutchfans lost hope for this guy long time ago. We traded him for Fisher and a pick. As Bima put it earlier, depending on Fishers decision on his option, we could potentially have a first rounder that cost less than 1 million dollars. Fisher doesn't hurt our cap space much at all.

So basically, we traded Hill for a first rounder. I think that's worth it, do you?

So I ask, what is the right direction then? Who are these young players that we should be getting, and how do we go about getting them?

This trade deadline for example, what trades were potentially out there that we could have done, and helped this team go in the right direction?

So we traded the 09ers for some 90 year olds.

We traded Hill the only player with some sort of playing time + 2 bench warmers for 2 playoff vets.

And since everyone is an expiring, somehow Morey trades expiring for expiring contracts + another pick this year. What don't you like about it?

Thanks for saying what I am trying to say.

We took garbage from the dumpster and turned it into camby and a pick. and a 3rd stringer vs. flynn

    No.

Because Camby makes the team slightly better. Good enough to make the playoffs and giving up a lotto pick. Id rather take our littoral pick + a chance at the Knickerbocker littoral pick should they lose. Now all we will get is some late 15 to 25 picks which will likely become role players.

We do have cap space though.

That's because Les doesn't want to lose and tank.

Now, let's just assume that Les is magically all of a sudden in agreement with tanking.

Why would we gut our roster right now in the middle of the season when we are already in playoff contention? If we were to gut our roster, we do it in the off-season when contracts go off the books. It makes no sense to do it now.

Also, if we make the playoffs, we indirectly raise the value of all of our players.

There is absolutely zero reasons to gut the roster of a winning playoff team in the middle of the season. Makes no sense. You won't end up with a high lottery pick, you aren't going to suddenly lose every single game. If we are to tank I rather we do it properly and not in the middle of the season where we grab another 14th pick at the end of the day.

I guess we always hope for more, landing a star, but I guess a smaller move that is an obvious winner is better than a blockbuster trade that is a push, or even worse, a bust.

The Rockets improved their team with little downside risk, most teams probably could not say that.

I like the direction we are taking in getting some additional shot blocking. We have been playing without a goal tender for too long.

You are right. I should have known better than to listen to the Rockets owner and management. ;)

Add veterans and a potential 21st pick. Give up nothing. Not a bad trade.

Too many posters here who think Morey is a magician who can swing Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown type deals every trade deadline.

Have you seen the attendance numbers? The fans aren't happy with this crap. I'm just not sure what else Morey could have done.

Had to go for Camby, Fish and pick even if the improvement is minimal.
