    Rockets Acquire Camby and Fisher
Houston Sends Flynn and Thabeet to Portland; Hill Joins Lakers

HOUSTON – Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has acquired center Marcus Camby from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for guard Jonny Flynn, center Hasheem Thabeet and a 2012 second-round pick, which was previously obtained by the Rockets from the Minnesota Timberwolves. In a separate deal, the Rockets acquired veteran guard Derek Fisher and a 2012 first-round pick from the L.A. Lakers (via Dallas) in exchange for center/forward Jordan Hill.

Camby (6-11, 235, Massachusetts) owns career averages of 9.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.46 blocks in 930 NBA games (769 starts) with Toronto (1996-98), New York (1998-2002), Denver (2002-08), the L.A. Clippers (2008-10) and Portland (2010-12). Currently in his 16th NBA season, Camby comes to the Rockets ranked 10th all-time on the NBA’s career list for blocks per game (2.46). He was voted the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2006-07 and is a four-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection, earning First-Team accolades twice (2006-07 and 2007-08) and Second-Team two times (2004-05 and 2005-06). Camby also stands as the NBA’s fifth-active leading rebounder (10.0). He was originally selected by the Raptors with the second overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft, going on to earn First-Team NBA All-Rookie honors in 1996-97.

Fisher (6-1, 200, University of Arkansas at Little Rock) is a five-time NBA champion, winning titles in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010 with the L.A. Lakers. Also in his 16th NBA season, Fisher holds career averages of 8.7 points (.373, 1119-2997 3FG), 3.1 assists and 1.09 steals in 1,153 NBA games (722 starts). Drafted by the Lakers in the first round (24th overall) of the 1996 NBA Draft, Fisher has spent the better part of 13 seasons with the Lakers. He also played two seasons with Golden State (2004-05 and 2005-06) and one with Utah (2006-07). Fisher stands as the NBA’s fourth-active leader in games played (1,153).

Acquired by Houston from Minnesota on June 23, 2011, Flynn averaged 3.4 points and 2.5 assists in 11 games with the Rockets. Hill, who was acquired by Houston from New York in a three-team trade on Feb. 18, 2010, has averaged 5.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.66 blocks in 32 games (seven starts at center) in 2011-12. Thabeet was acquired by Houston from Memphis on Feb. 24, 2011, seeing action in just five games with the Rockets this season.

    Clutch,

Is there a press conference scheduled?

Or are these trades so underwhelming they don't really want to answer questions about them?

Morey will be available to the press tomorrow. He was supposed to meet with media today but the trades were not approved by the league office yet (logjammed).

Seems like they could maybe squeeze a press conference in tomorrow, but I don't know the travel schedule with the team hitting the road starting with a game Saturday.

Cannot wait for the video of this. I actually like these trades, though a lot do not. I think we need some veteran leadership with our young guys.

Video of Morey or of Camby and Fisher being introduced? I don't believe the latter will happen. It's possible, but not likely (hasn't been set up).

I would love to see both but definitely the Morey video. I believe they have 48 hours to report and pass physical correct? I would think that would make them eligible for Saturdays game?

Yeah, I believe so... but I don't anticipate it being an issue, given the short-term benefit (as far as the players on the court are concerned) of the trades. Of course if Camby has some major issue, then I could see it being a problem.

Camby will be serving suspension for the flagrant foul on Fields.
