if fisher isnt bought out the moment he gets off the plane in Houston, then this is a horrible trade deadline.

if fisher is bought out before he buys his ticket to Houston, then this is a good trade deadline.

Not the trade but they are starting over and have decided to do it the traditional way. Clean house and build around Aldridge and Batum. Wallace and Camby are gone. Oden is released. Mehmet Okur will soon be released. McMillian fired because he is a winning coach and that is just not on their agenda this year. If they play their cards right they could end up with a top five pick. And next year expect them to be one of the worst teams in the league with plenty of cap room. Maybe they try to pull off a trade for Lowry or Sign Ilyasova or just wait one more year and go after free agent. I t will be interesting to see which team rises to the top faster. The Rockets or Blazers.

We do not have a backup point guard. I suspect he will be bought out this summer.

Agree - that's how you rebuild. Now if they can just draft a non-Oden non-Bowie player...

As bad as Oden is Thabeet is ten times worse all he does is sit on the bench and hang out at night clubs!!

Oden just needs to stay on the floor, Thabeet can't get on the court cause he's not an NBA player!!!

JHollinger[rQUOTEr]March 15: Camby on the way to Houston
Blazers send Marcus Camby to Houston for Hasheem Thabeet, Jonny Flynn and Minnesota's second-round pick.

    Portland: B-
It makes sense for Portland to start moving players it won't have after this season, and it gets a free look at Thabeet and Flynn to see if they can be a part of the solution going forward. Alas, watching Flynn for any length of time may give Blazers fans a new appreciation for Raymond Felton.

Trading Camby also may force Portland to stumble into a much better arrangement: Playing LaMarcus Aldridge at center. The Blazers can use Craig Smith, Luke Babbitt and recently acquired Shawne Williams at the 4, space the floor, and perhaps rediscover some of the vibrancy they showed earlier this season.

    Houston: B+
It's not deadline day until Daryl Morey makes a deal involving a second-round pick. In this one, the Rockets used their expiring contracts to get a better player who is also on an expiring contract; this barely affects their long-term strategy at all but it does give them a leg up in their playoff push. Expect Camby to take minutes as the backup center, and in the big picture he provides more quality size for a team that could really use some.[/rQUOTEr]

If you shooting for a playoff push then yes...B+. If you are going for a championship contender then you have to rethink that.

Rockets arent thinking championship yet. Just playoffs. "Our goal is to make the playoffs." Oh well...I guess. They got a band-aid to cover their wound.

Can't wait to get Camby on the floor. Really curious to see how the hell he averages 9 rebounds in only 22 min a game.

I'm fine with band-aids for this season, but I hope (and think) we trade the vets and blow it up this offseason.

That's right--if you're going to blow it up, trade for young guys/picks, and go for a full rebuild, it's best to do it in the offseason or when you are already deep in the lottery. Tanking and intentionally missing the playoffs for a mid-first round draft pick doesn't make a whole helluva lot of sense.

McHale finally got the rebounder he has been looking for. The Rockets make the playoffs this year, and make some noise. Book It.

This. And before anyone brings up last offseason as an opportunity, keep in mind the shortened nature of it and the fact that the Rockets had the Gasol/Nene duo done. It was virtually impossible to completely blow it up in the 10 days the team had, following all that, before the regular season.

It doesn't make sense to do it now.

I agree that we should have gone with a traditional rebuild a long time ago.

But the one thing I like about this deal is that it very acutely addresses rebounding issue. Plus, when the bear hibernates we have a solid back up option.

Guys if we get to the playoffs and win one series we will have made as much progress as we have the past 15 years with no star players that's pretty sad, getting to the playoffs is important to the development of Lowry and our other Young players.
We can spend big in FA and we can say we are a PLAYOFF team that needs a "star" and we can pay you and another player max deals then that would probably be pretty attractive to a player
