I remember these exact words before????

    Last season
    The season before that
    the trade deadline last year
    free agency last year
    free agency this year
    this years trade deadline
    The draft
the year before the last draft

I am a tiny bit skeptical by now.

Well, we finally got Camby... three years too late, but I think his numbers will go up a bit and he still seems to play hard with energy (he plays younger than his age).

    Weird.

Last trade deadline: Brooks for Dragic. Brooks out of the league, Dragic looking special. Majority of people here were angry

Trade deadline before: Landry for Kevin Martin. People hated it but KMart is our best offensive option and Landry doesn't look that great anymore.

Trade deadline before: Rafer Alston for Kyle Lowry. People hated it but loling about it now

Yup a trend of strikeouts.

I don't fear rebuilding at all. But you contend that we should rebuild through the draft so I assume you mean that we need high draft picks. You have to lose to get those. So, I assume that you want to lose so we can have a high draft pick. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you mean?

There is nothing to disagree with in the trades made today, they were both good trades that improve our franchise. Whats not to like? We are competing to play in the playoffs and we improved today. As long as we keep improving what is wrong with that?

You can't have it both ways, you can't say "you aren't rooting for our demise" and then say that our problem is we are mired in mediocrity. Just go ahead and say you want us to suck for draft picks, it's ok there are plenty more here like you.

I realize this deadline does not improve our future but 5 reasons why I am happy with these deadline deals:
    1) The only rotation player gone is Jordan Hill and he has been missing most of the season PLUS Camby is a major upgrade defensively
    2) Doesn't change much salary wise assuming Fish is brought out following Lowry's return or we convince him to retire (which he just might given how useless he is).
    3) Dragic has been playing on Lowry's level. Fisher he has a decent backup for 10 minutes per game while Lowry was out, we continue to stay competitive.
    4) Camby helps with our playoff push. Those small lineups are KILLING us on the boards and in terms of interior defense. That is what Cambyman specializes in. Even at this old age he is averaging almost 9 RPG and 1.5 BPG in 22 MPG.
    5) We are going to the playoffs. These deals help us win for the reasons above.

i like today's trades. never said i didn't. what i do not like is that we are still pretty much in the same situation as we were before the deadline. we needed to do more. bash me all you want, but i don't think the morey-assets-trade strategy is working. why is that so controversial? oh yeah, and i want to rebuild through the draft. I must be nuts

Ok if it works out into something more than a incremental upgarde in the offseason. Then the pollyana sunshine fans win. If it is another incremental upgrade this offseason and another role player in the draft? Stuck at 500 again? Maybe just maybe we can come back to this discussion again?

Just maybe by then? Ok I can accept that. The season was short anyways.

    Yeh.

He's so fail that he made a move to bring in a star before the season started. He should definitely be able to do that again within a few months even though there are no teams willing to trade their stars....

I am disappointed we couldn't turn Martin into something useful, but I blame that on Martin and not the front office. Hopefully he will be some quality trade bait for the off season.

Otherwise, excellent moves by Morey. We are well positioned for the Summer and somehow traded trash for assets.

This tanking talk needs to stop. There are several reasons mentioned in other threads on how making the playoffs this year can be important toward flexibility as we move forward. In addition if we tank and get a high draft pick it is still a multi-year rebuilding effort that would have this board screaming like a bunch of flower-sniffers for a solid four or five years.

It is fairly depressing coming to this board at times. Everyone is an "expert".

But??? If he keeps needing excuses next year at 500 and no end in sight to his constant treadmill of 500? then probably needs to be talked about if that strategy is not working by then.

We are rebuilding through the draft. Do you think Morey has draft poorly? Morey keeps coming out on top with whatever trade he makes using our "assets". Is that a problem?

You are saying that you don't like what our management is doing but you refuse to say what you would do differently that would put us in a "better situation than we were in before the deadline"?

    What would YOU do?

As a lontime fan, I've tried to be patient with this franchise, but today I think we have a right to feel frustrated. This team desperately needs change and it needs a direction.

I can't blame Morey for not getting Howard or Gasol, but I do think we should be second guessing the failure to not get Bogut. I'm skeptical that we couldn't beat the offer from Golden State. It seems to me that we got so caught up in longshot moves for Howard and Gasol that we didn't bring our best offers to the table for Bogut. K-Mart and Ellis are almost the same player and K-mart would have fit better next to Jennings.

A couple of years ago those guys were Hasheem Thabeet, Marvin Williams and Michael Beasley.

Not saying those two would be busts, but no matter how good a rookie can be he won't be enough to turn the franchise around. Its not like getting the franchise star will solve your problems, Toronto, Cleveland and Orlando struck draft pick gold and still lost everything in the end.

Remember, he is under Owner's orders to not put a losing team out on the floor while trying to find a franchise player. That is the rule he is working under. So, he has to keep 'some' talent on the team to keep us competitive while maintaining flexibility in case that franchise player from another team becomes available. Not easy to do if you ask me.

It takes two teams to trade. He just cant make another team trade with us. Sorry, just doesnt work that way.

90% of the posters here can't seem to grasp this. Get it through your thick skulls: MOREY IS NOT ALLOWED TO TANK. If you have issues with this strategy, take it up with Les. Morey is following orders, lest he be fired for insubordination.

Jordan Hill out played Sammy D in half the minutes. I hope fisher fails physical or stern vetoes trade.
    NOT HAPPY!
