Weren't we a star / closer away from elite status prior to this trade? Haven't we been a star /closer away from elite status for the last two years?
last year for Camby and Fishy, possibly lose Dragic and Lee at the end of season we are in rebuilding mode as of today..
I agree. The great thing is that Morey is positioning us to have the players and cap room to make a major play for a star when one comes on the market again. Granted stars dont come on the market often. We have players with value to trade and draft picks to trade and we will have cap space to afford a star.
And when we do get a star we wont be like New Jersey, we will actually have quality players surrounding are star right when he arrives.
Star's aren't interested in that though. Stars either want a major city or another star to play with- but preferably both.

But sometimes you forget what happens in the middle so you watch and say, "OoooH, now I remember!" Then since you already watched for 45 minutes you tell yourself, "might as well stay till the credits; it's not that bad a movie..." You finish watching and you realized you just wasted 2 hours of your life. You shrug and add it to your Netflix queue.
Considering this team was supposed to contend after we got Kevin Martin, and nothing has really changed beside losing Yao, I really thought a healthy Bogut would have put us back into contention. I don't believe you need a "Superstar" to win in this league, you just have to have a team clicking on all cylinders. A detroit team with "Good" players beat out a Laker team with two bonafide superstars in Shaq & Kobe. Boston's big three arguably were arguably not "Superstars" at their age, but they still beat two of them in Pau & Kobe. Dallas beat 3 "Superstars" with their lone guy in Dirk to beat the heat. Two "Superstars" in New York are doing didly squat with Carmelo & Amare. You just need a well balanced team, with a "Closer" like op says. But that closer doesn't necessarily mean a "Superstar".
