Talking about it in a "what if" sense, I assume?

They think we can land a potential franchise LT or a game-breaking WR with size, speed and his head screwed on straight for the 26th pick and a back-up RB? I laughed loudly enough for others to hear me; you know - LOL.

Let's nip this in the bud - Cleveland would never, ever, ever, never make that trade. Ever.

It's probably a done deal now since McClain says there is no chance of it happening.

Ben Tate has 2 years left on his contract. He did an outstanding job. Coaches love him. He should be even better next season. Going nowhere.

Forget anything you read or hear about the Texans considering trading RB Ben Tate to Browns. Not going to happen.

Ben Tate and #26 do not equal the #4 pick. Texans would have to give what the Falcons gave up to move up for Julio Jones.

Are Kalil or Blackmon worth an extra 2013 1st rounder plus a boatload of other picks? Smith and Kubiak would never ever do something like what Dimitroff did.

the idea was more of a thought experiment rather than something that people think will happen.

the problem is, tate wont settle for backup very long, especially if he realizes he's the best backup RB in the league.

Well he's still under a cheap contract for the next two years. We could probably flip him for a mid-round pick next year and in the meanwhile, he'd serve as insurance in case Arian goes down for any reason.

Ben Tate is worth about what he was worth 2 years ago: A second-round pick. People talking about draft steals and busts, but sometimes, a player pans out the same quality as draft position. That's Ben Tate

Tate has value as a quality RB for any team. Where he adds supplemental value to the texans is that he will keep Arian fresh for the good chunk of his tenure here, while still being a threat. Defenses just can't take a break

I would disagree. Tate has shown time and again (with Arian being injured) that he can be a very good starting RB in the league. I know running backs don't bring the highest value but comparing Richardson and Tate, I don't see a huge difference, so throwing in a #26 pick definitively would make it a fair trade in my opinion.
