Morey's job is not to make you happy. It's to make the team better even by a little bit. He succeed in that.

we got help for the playoff push without losing important players or compromising our future by taking salaries or losing picks, so why should i be disappointed, i never expected a big move so ...

    Did he?

He might have made them a little better immediately, but it is still not a title contender, or even a playoff threat. And, now the team is a mess going into next year without a clear direction, and without anyone to build around. Morey did a good job of gettting role players, but I am not sold one bit on his ability to build a franchise or team.

Remember Morey asking when having too many good players was a bad thing and Bill Simmons said it can be a horrible thing, well, that is exactly what happened this year, too many like players, not enough playing time to develop anyone or showcase someone, and thus the assets got stale on the bench.

Morey seems to be learning on the job, but who else wants to bet that with the picks in the 2012, we get more undersized PFs?

    LOL

LOL, you expected him to land a franchise changing player? Or make this team a title contender?

Check your expectations at the door, I believe that luggage will not fit in the overhead compartment here in the GARM.

I don't know about all that. We will have so much cap space next year it is ridiculous.

If I was another team I wouldn't want him either.

Overpaid malcontent that has apparently lost his shooting touch?

    No thanks.

Actually we don't. By the time we resign Lee (which I hope we do) we won't have enough to offer more an then MLE to someone. Not even sure about that anymore. We picked up Fisher's 2013 contract for expirings.

So, you obviously are on the side that feels Morey has failed some how right?

By the above statement I guess you feel like we have to have a star to trade for a star, correct? Or we have to have a start to get one here? We had 2 stars, Yao and McGrady when Morey got here. They both were injured and left the team without us getting anything. There is no way to blame Morey for this.

We have a team that is competing for the playoffs without a "star". We have a talented roster with no bad contracts. We have draft picks and "assets" for trades to help us take advantage of other teams who haven't managed their teams as well as we have. What else were you expecting?

You say above that Morey and Les think they can trade assets for a star and "that is the problem". What can you trade for a star? What is your solution? We are NOT GOING TO TANK for draft position so leave that off the table and explain to us what magical trade at the deadline would have made you happy? I'm sure it won't look anything like the xbox trade I alluded to earlier.

Sure. He made them better by a little and not by a lot. What's your point? Let's play a little game here. Which do you think is the more likely explanation for why that happened?

    A) Morey doesn't understand that the team needs superstars and/or is so afraid of making big moves that he turned down offers for franchise cornerstones because his crazy computer programs have gone all WOPR on us.

    ~OR~

    B) We couldn't make any deals that significantly improved the team (which might explain why no other team made a blockbuster today, either)

Seriously. You people are acting like Morey could have done blockbusters and chose small ball instead. And who are these undersized power forwards you're fussing about? Patterson? At 6'9" and 235?

Keep in mind as the OP I am not blaming Morey for this. I happen to like Morey and think he is one of the best GM's in basketball. I am just disappointed because i thought some of those rumors would end up falling into place.

Cap space to get whom exactly?

And Cap Space is less important now with the new CBA and teams that have players already can offer so much more $$$$.

It is like Morey is in 2001 with his acquisitions and Cap space.

you guys are making my point. you keep saying that morey did the best he could with what he had. Fine. i agree. but that's the point. don't embark on a strategy of building through trade if it doesn't work ...and it has not worked! Someone has to have some accountability. the stutus quo is not good enough. make it happen or not, but don't keep making excuses.

here's a novel idea ...rebuild through the draft. sad thing is, instead of all these mediocur seasons, we could have had a bad season and actually drafted a franchise player.

Same old same old. Martin and scola still on roster. Now we're talking about playoffs sedings? Yep, that will fill the lower bowl.

Fisher will be bought out, Dalembert has a team option. Scola can be amnestied. That alone frees up for a max contract.

Yes. Building through the draft is the fastest, most effective, and least painful way of building a contender.

Unfortunately, Leslie Alexander does not see it that way, and until that changes, there's not much that anyone can do.
