"Losing Brooks for a guy they have no control over."

    LOL

Is Brooks even in the NBA anymore? You assume they won't keep Dragic. Is any trade for any player that isn't under control for 5 years a failure?

I'm not going to say Morey has a done a good job (though I do think the Dragic trade was good) or a bad job. I think the circumstances have dictated what we've done. That's a lot better than what CD did which is strap this team down with bad players and bad contracts. We also have gotten to enjoy good teams under Morey, a point you ignore despite arguing yourself AGAINST trading away the core because you believed they could win a title just last year.

Epic troll job is epic, as usual DD.

    this too

and on brooks, i forgot we got a pick we used for Dontas, so the brooks comparison is not valid. none-the-less, i just don't think we did well enough for where we are as a franchise.

I'm sure Morey had higher expectations too. Thing is, he and the rockets brass are the only ones who knows what was available and for what price.

Will never understand why some people don't get this. Until the report comes out saying that team X wanted to give us player A for players B, C and D and WE said no, I find it hard to be so negative.

We don't know what happened today or the plan for the future.

What exactly were you expecting? Kobe for KMart?

We don't have valuable stuff to trade, so a star isn't walking through that door.

We did good to come out as well as we did. Low risk, solidly positive moves.

Don't expect the roster to be blown up until the timing is right, and this wasn't good timing.

When somebody is willing to overpay us for our pieces, we'll hit the detonator, but until then, just chill and enjoy the ride.

Dumped two players who will never be anything in the nba for a solid big man who will contribute for the rest of this season and playoffs. Rockets win. Traded Jordan "most awkward basketball player in the league" Hill for a first rounder. Rockets win. Especially with this years draft.

Basically he turned the expiring contracts of Brooks and Battier.

    Into
    Marcus Camby
    Goran Dragic
    Donatas Motiejunas
Grizzlies 1st Rounder 2013 (lottery protected)

Yes, thats not bad. His ability to land the game changer is frustrating, but his wizardry on the smaller deals is impressive.

I've never heard any realistic scenario where Morey could have done better.

He lost Yao and T-mac to injuries
His master plan to relieve of us of assets and build a top 3 team was crushed by Stern.
He's trying to rebuild while playing playoff basketball per Les Alexander.

I really don't understand what guy like DD are looking for that's better?

I feel completely comfortable with Daryl Morey running the show, that the rockets are in good hands and won't be on the **** end of the stick in trade talks.

Who exactly would you replace him with???

We just flipped a bunch of nothing into a back-up center and a first round pick. What's the problem???? We couldn't package scola and martin for Dwight Howard? Maybe we should have traded them in the offseason when their value was higher? Oh wait, he tried that already.

I just don't get the b****ing. I can't imagine someone doing a better job in the same situation.

What are you expecting we have nothing thats valuable. Morey is doing a good job building up all of these assets.

    Conflicting statements or doublespeak?

Why? He traded two pieces at the height of their value and it got stomped on by Stern. How is that HIS fault?

look ...if you are selling people on a strategy to get better through trade, then make it happen. bottom line. and if your whole strategy depends on one deal or one team making that deal, then that's not a very good strategy.

Look the only guys on here not happy with these trades are the ones that think they should be able to trade K-Mart and filler to orlando for Dwight Howard cause they did it on xbox.

These are solid trades that improve our team without hurting our future.

    Good stuff Morey.

I dont think those are the only guys. The polls today suggest that the tides are turning and more than just a few think this way. It was a decent day but by no means a homerun or even a double to be gloating in others faces like that right now. Unless something else makes these marginal deal even better.

you know, just because people disagree doesn't mean they are fools. the trades in themselves were good, but i just don't think we did what we needed to do to improve the future of this team. people have every right to be disappointed and it's not about over-inflated expectations. its about a strategy that is not working ...or has not worked yet. incrimental improvement is one thing, but it's been a long road, and i, for one, am tired. almost 20 years now....since we were really a contender. don't hate on people for being tired of this crap.

At best Morey made a bunt to move the player from first to second with these sort of moves.

Umm... you think superstar/blockbuster trades happen all the time in the NBA? Or for that matter, are easy to configure and negotiate? Dude spent months working that deal up.

Now that it didn't happen, it's not his fault KMart tanked and the market for Scola was less than hot (did anybody need a 4 at the deadline...?). That's just crap luck.

He wasn't going to be able to pull a rabbit out of his a** with the situation we were in. I know you want to grab your pitchfork, but stop and think how this was avoidable first.

No, you are wrong, it's the exact opposite, we don't think you can trade "assets" for a star, Morey and Les do, not us, and that's the problem.

The thing I'm disappointed about is that Kevin Martin and Luis Scola are still on the roster!!!

Specially Kevin Martin, I swear I cannot ****ing stand that douchebag!

Ok maybe he made a single and no players were on the bases to score. Morey made a similar move last year. Similar move in free agency. Its a common theme. People just do not cheer as loud for singles hitters in baseball or in business.
