It isn't as if we have assets available to get a superstar player via trade and today's big time NBA players will only sign free agent deals to play with other superstars. I think he's working with what we have. he tried to swing for the fences with Gasol and Stern killed it. (Though I don't want that Gasol)

Its because half of the posters in CF are idiots and don't have any concept of time or perspective. Like what the other dude said, Yao Ming just retired last year at 30 and we got nothing out of it. OKC had 5 years to go from pretender to contender with Durant at the helm, DM's not even past year 1 of the post-Yao era and people are already whining.

Thats exactly how I feel to a tee. We should keep Morey as a guy behind the guy who recruits players to the Rockets and has better personal skills with people as GM.
Where is the "Morey did what he always says: Constantly looking to Improve our team" option? We got a back up center, who has played more minutes in 1 game than Thabeet and Flynn have all year. This means not having to (as often at least) play Scola and Patterson at the same time. More rotations in the front court and we got 2 picks, which are great filler on draft day. Not every trade can be a blockbuster, but unless Camby goes out every game and turns it over 6 times and blows on defense then this is an improvement. The Fisher trade was for the pick and just for him to fill in until Lowry is back.
What did DM and his staff do to make you lose confidence in their abilities in the first place? How quickly do you think teams should rebound from losing their two franchise players anyway?

I'm not pissed about the two trades we made, I just think that Morey passed up on better trades that could have been made to chase the Dwight saga. Taking calculated risks means you take the blame when it doesn't work out like you calculated for. The two trades alone were okay..not bad. But doesn't do much for me as a fan wanting a contender.
I didn't see any big names at the trade deadline moved, so I don't think it is really Morey's fault. It isn't like a number of stars were traded while the Rockets sat on their hands. A lot of teams were desperate to makes moves and did not. The moves we did make were good. We have another #1 and improved some on the court. Dalembert and Camby will be a good duo, and Camby will help our rebounding. I really was hoping Dragic and/or Martin would be moved, but the market just wasn't there..... no one wanted to make moves, Boston couldn't even get a #1 for Allen, and they basically offered Rondo for any decent deals, it didnt happen.
I like the fact that they want to shoot for the biggest stars, but I think they overvalue our assets, sit on them too long, put off other would be traders for nice pieces, and therefore ultimately miss out on opportunities to build us the contender we want when they get left out in the cold, to make only minor trades like today at the last minute.

I think we could have gotten Gasol if we had pulled the trigger earlier. Then we could have paired him up with Okafor or Kaman or even Camby/Dalember. Then I think with that move made quick enough, we would have had enough time to make other moves such as moving Martin or Lee and whatever expirings we had left for significant pieces that we could build around.
Should I take that as a sign that you don't like the poll? I think many fans were expecting something more from this trade deadline. If some of us aren't 100% happy with the direction of the team as you obviously are, let us have our feelings in opinions without your insults sir.
So you think that if the trade was announced 1 week earlier, Cuban and Cronies would magically decide not to cry about the deal, causing Stern not to veto the trade?
He definitely overvalues the benefit of accumulating assets and turning them into something better. If they sit at the endo your bench they lose value. He also underestimates the ability to sign superstars to Houston. We are not the Lakers. But he does seem to be learning on the job. I do give him credit for drafting Donatus and Parsons. Those are both great picks. Brooks for Dragic was another steal. Llull is turning out to be a gem. He has failed on some of his lottery picks. Ppat was probably the best guy available although I still would have taken Sanders and definitely Batum over Greene and Leonard over Morris. But what he seems to be really good at our some of these smaller deals. (not counting TWill) I would say he is in the plus side with his deals overall. He is definitely a smart guy but I think he has on occasion made the mistake of thinking he is the smartest guy in the room and underestimating experience. Experience does matter. But as I said he appears to be learning and getting better. And I am convinced he is one of the hardest working GM's in the league. And that combination of a smart guy who works hard usually gets results. So I am for keeping him.
