Which center would you have preferred?

Camby is an expiring contract. Elite defensive rebounder and rim protector. Very good passer. Does not provide needed post presence.

Kaman is an even bigger expiring contract (may have required another asset thrown into the deal). Good rebounder and rim protector. Good post player. Not a great ball mover like Camby, which is also needed.

Who cares? Neither will make that much of a difference this year, or in the future.

    Garbage in, garbage out.

Kaman's price would have been much steeper.

I'd rather have camby because of his passing skills.......however this trade deadline has been a major disappointment.

I like to root for Camby more. But Kaman is probably the better player.

I dont care. We have Camby now. He can help solidify the lower round playoff push.

Kaman is dreadful defensively, but can get his own shot in the paint.

Camby cannot get his own shot in the paint, but is very good defensively.

Hard to say who would be better. Certainly Camby is a better option alongside Scola I suppose.

I would slightly prefer Kaman, but with Kaman you also risk Stern doing another veto after the trade deadline and getting neither. Neither is a huge impact trade alone, but it doesn't look like any all star level player is going to be traded at this point.

The prospects of keeping Camby at a comfortable price after the season are much higher plus besides age and post scoring, I really think Camby brings a little more to the table overall. At least from the little I've seen, Kaman has looked just as old as Camby, and the latter has always been the better athlete anyways.

Kaman, but that would involve dealing with Stern. We got Camby for next to nothing. New Orleans wanted young talent, expirings, and a 1st round pick for Kaman.

Not sure, but with the games Stern is playing I have a hard time picturing him doing any type like this with minimal return for New Orleans.

He isn't garbage. He'll help. But thinking long term, that help is probably negligible.

The team will be more watchable this year, but its not something that helps the team 3 months from now.

You don't think Camby will just retire after this year? He's nearly 40.

Unlike Camby, Kaman requires the rock, also requiring us to fit him into our system, where we rarely even run plays for the post b/c we don't have a big man who is efficient enough to do so. Camby falls right in, bolsters the second unit & we don't lose anything actually might be better +/- wise seeing the competition will usually be second units.

Is it a big splash no. But it adds beneficial depth to the frontcourt. We were getting killed b/c we didn't have a defensive post presence on our second unit. Not b/c we couldn't score. I like the move instant gratification which our society is usually enamored by. Now some fans are acting super disgruntled, unappreciative, like we are used to being an elite team with elite talent.

Get out of the 90s and meet us here in the present. Where bigger market cities reign supreme & mid market cities such as Houston play second fiddle & have to do our best with what is left.

I think you're slightly underestimating how much he helps for THIS SEASON. He literally fills in the role of everything we've been missing this season: rebounding and interior defense. The Rockets I think have a legitimate chance of getting out of the 1st round this year with the rest of the West having some glaring weaknesses and us matching up well with the current top two seeds.
