Not bad, basically the same deal that the Rockets would have offered for Chris Kaman. Gets immediate help without mortgaging the future.

Guys... what's with all the jokes and complaints?

I watch Camby all the time being as I live in Portland. Old or not.... He's still a near 7 footer that's mobile, blocks shots, protects the paint and rebounds. In addition he's going to provide us flexibility in the future, provides us a great insurance policy for Dalembert and we got him for cheap.

Seriously, this is a great deal for us.

I have a feeling that Portland will be rebuilt faster and better than the Rockets...this trade certainly helps Portland rebuild. Although we did need to get rid of Flynn and Thabeet.

    heck ya ...awesome move.

WE gave up litterally nothing...we dont need number of picks.

Next we need to trade martin and or scola. Free up a bit more cap space...cause camby is a HUGE expiring next year.

I like the idea that no matter what, we're going to have a legit 7 foot rebounder/defender in the paint.

But part of me is pissed that Kevin Martin is still on this team.

Our biggest problem right now is him. Learn 2 shoot, Kevdog.

    Is Camby an expiring?

If he is then we basically traded useless expiring players for a useful expiring player, the second round pick could basically be brought nowadays anyways.

    He's Dalembert with consistent effort

And we got him for nothing, whats not to like.

We simply buy and new 2nd Rounder every year

Turned two non rotation guys into a rotation guy to boost this year. Not terrible, but not exactly blowing my skirt off.

Agreed. Now, the Rockets will have a good rebounder and rim-protector at all times. No need to pretend Jordan Hill can be productive C any longer.

Good for him? It's not like Flynn & Thabeet were going to stick around anyway. Our biggest weakness is rebounding, shotblocking and toughness, Camby solves all of that. At the very least I don't expect anymore blowouts for lack of trying.

    I like it

Camby can still play. I wonder if this is to have a solid Dalember backup, or to make Dalember and one of our other bigs expendable.

But we traded only expiring contracts. The financial side means nothing except that we didn't screw up. The only way it's a win is if we want to compete (which I'm ALL for, mind you), in which case we traded useless expirings and a throwaway pick for a mildly useful expiring.
