He's just pissy bc of how irrelevant his Aggy football and basketball teams were this season. Notice the was since they're already fishing.

Buffalo has met most of the conditions for a deal for Texans free agent LB Mario Williams and is "close to a deal." Answer "real soon."

With the cap floor about to jump up next year, teams like Buffalo and Tampa that have been floor-spenders may as well go for it. They can front load all they want.

I think what we're seeing is, teams like Seattle and Chicago don't want to touch those numbers. His agent must have come up empty getting anyone else to bite.

Not only that, but if they are smart they can front load it now and take big hits this year and next and then when the cap jumps big time they will have major cap room AGAIN.

"Adam Schefter: Texans likely to lose DE/LB Mario Williams, but their free agent center Chris Myers also is visiting today with the Tennessee Titans."

    No, Chris don't do it!

Has their ever been a former Texan who, upon becoming an FA, signed next with the Titans?

Babin is the only one that comes close, but he made stops in at 3 separate teams over a span of 4 years before winding up in Tennessee.

Edit: NVM, Robaire Smith was cut and immediately signed with the Titans. Although they originally drafted him, and he totally flamed out after going back there.

So, essentially nobody of significance has ever jumped from the Texans to the Titans, let alone done it immediately. Hell, that might not have ever happened with the Texans vis-a-vis AFC South teams ever.

Since 2002 the Texans have won 65 games.

Since 2002 the Bills have won 65 games.

Since 2006 (Kubiak's first year) the Texans won 47 games.

Since 2006 the Bills have won 37 games.

So the Texans have averaged 1.6 more wins per year under Kubiak.

If the Bills are really willing to spend money now, I don't see why it's laughable to believe they could be in a good situation going forward, perhaps better than the Texans.

Remember, the Texans are apparently so cash strapped they can't afford 3/5 of their starting o-line and their starting FB, let alone Mario Williams.

last year, texans were a healthy schaub away from a SB appearance. The bills were 6-10...just sayin.

Fortunes can change dramatically in one year though Donkey.

This year Andre is another year older.

    What if Wade's defense regresses?

You lose 3/5 of your starting O-Line?

I'm not trying to make it sound like I think the Texans will be bad next year because I don't believe that, but I think it's a mistake to think one year should be the deciding factor in a player's decision. The Texans have been a bad franchise since their existence save 1 season now. It isn't like he's bolting the Steelers to go sign with the Bills.

i hear ya..but i don't think that tells the whole story of where these franchises are positioned going forward.

mario would be a fool not to take the deal....but i don't think you can make a great argument to suggest the bills are better positioned going forward than the texans are.

I don't know where the Bills are positioned right now because I don't watch a lot of their games. I know they have a lot of money to spend and if they are willing to spend it there is no reason they can't rise up.

i'm not saying that the bills don't have a chance...i actually think they have some talent, but still, Kubes has consistently put up an effective offense (without arian and/or AJ)

And the defense may regress, but Wade isn't all of a sudden going to lose his ability. He's put together solid defenses his entire career

How many players of significance have the Texans ever had that wasn't already fairly old when they arrived? It's fairly easy to retain good players when you don't have many to begin with.

But I imagine all of that will be changing if we continue to have success. Players like Barwin, Cushing, Brown may be getting big paydays and the Texans won't have their usual capspace to retain them.

If we lose Mario we will be ok....however, if we lose Brisel and Meyers then we will struggle to run the ball. As great of RB as Arian is, he could not do as well without the OLine we had last few years. Its a shame that Jacoby Jones is still on our roster but Eric Winston is not. They were both making the same amount of money and we cut the better of the two. Seems to me that losing all these players to FA and cuts will open up more space for next year when we WILL need to SIGN Dwayne Brown and BRIAN CUSHING. We can not afford to lose Cushing...this season might be a rocky one.

His teams have tanked on defense in the past. Wasn't there some stat that showed every time he took over a team as D-coordinator they made a dramatic jump the first year and then started to fall off after that?

Kubes has consistently put up an effective offense but until this year with the D playing amazing it never mattered.

Last year the Bills scored 372 points. Less then a touchdown less than the Texans best year (2010) of 390. Their problem was, guess what, defense!

If they add to the defense in FA as well as adding another offensive weapon in Meachem...

Again, I don't mean to pimp for the Bills here. Just trying to demonstrate that it isn't laughable to be willing to take the money and go play for Buffalo. With the new cap rules requiring teams like Buffalo to spend money, I definitely can see them being a team that competes for a playoff spot as early as next season.

We better hope we get better cap management over the years or we will be in trouble. It's one thing when a team like the Steelers or the Patriots lets a good player go in FA, but it's kind of sad that the Texans have gotten themselves in this situation cap wise on the backs of ONE playoff appearance.

does buffalo run a 4-3? i'm wondering if mario doesn't want to cover. although wade has said he would never drop mario into coverage, i did see it a few times before he got injured and it did look awkward.

This isn't technically true. I guarantee you they have a plan in place to accomodate the signings of Myers and Briesel. But until they agree to a deal, there's no sense in excessively slashing salary.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is their starting QB - what else can we help you with?
