I wanted Pau in the 1st trade. I don't want him whatever abomination of a deal is being constructed now. If there's one thing I've learned from life, the sequel is never as good as the original. F*** you, Stern.
It may be true that Pau wants to go to Chicago (although Chicago has nothing LA wants)...... but I don't trust anything that Ric Bucher says... he had Kobe going to the Clippers, Chris Paul to the Nets, Lebron to NY, McGrady to Phoenix..... the guy has NO sources and is wrong literally 99% of the time.
I don't particularly care what he thinks. Plenty of NBA players, even star players, adjust just fine after trades they dislike. In the end I can't see Gasol as a malcontent. And quite frankly, if I were Gasol, I'd want to be traded to Chicago over Houston or Minnesota too.
How many players do you know that want to be traded if they are in a winning situation and making max money???? Answer: NONE Pau has no reason to want to be traded anywhere besides to another team that has a chance to win it all. Because he has a chance to win it all in LA. He's already making all the dough he can make. Dude wants rings. But if he gets here and he sees the potential of our team, that will change.
With the way Gasol disappears and plays below his talents every other game, why did we want this guy in the first place? If Kobe can't light a fire under his arse, there's no way he's going to excel in Houston, think Memphis Grizzlies. I'm content with Scola, guy loves Houston, loves the team, brings it every night, doesn't complain.
I'm not content with Scola and Dally. And that is the way you should be looking at it. I'd be content with Scola and Dwight. But that's not happening. Dally is a 3rd big man on a championship team...at best. We have to upgrade our interior. Pau may not be the long term answer but one thing is for sure...we're not winning any kind of championship with Dally and Scola starting at the 5/4.
I think you're taking it too far. He isn't a douche because he may not want to come to Houston. Assume for one second this report is entirely correct...that doesn't make him a douche. Hell, it's hard to blame a guy for NOT wanting to leave the Los Angeles Lakers. They're a legendary franchise, and he's won a championship there. But for the record: he's a douche just because he's always been a douche. I've never liked the guy. I don't want him anywhere near this franchise. I don't see him as an integral piece of any long term plan that has this franchise getting out of the rut it's in. I can not express how disappointed I'd be if we traded away Lowry at his age and with that contract for Pau at his age and with that contract.
There's another unspoken reason why Pau doesn't want to go to Houston. He knows he's going to be playing a lot of 5 here. Because if it's Lowry and Scola going out, that leaves a big man rotation of Dally, Pau, Patterson. The best 2 bigs are Pau and Patterson. I'm sure Pau would prefer to play with another legit center to take the pressure off him having to defend the bigger stronger guys in the post so much.
