He wouldn't have to play the 5 here. We would have Kaman for that.;)

Gasol and Hayes would be tight. Put that together with Dragic, Lee, and Parsons. That's the best D in the NBA.

    Praying for a Gasol-Kaman frontline.

Dwight the clown :) Bringing the circus to a city near you!

And Orlando not interested in Houston's assets. Surprise, surprise.

At this point, I'd be happy if all DM gets us is a draft pick or two for Martin.

Nothing like Dwight the Flake jerking the whole league around until the last second.

At least Morey can jump back to his other options, but time's a stern taskmaster, and Morey's been out back dreamin'.

Change the lyrics of that old song "Eye in the Sky" (Alan Parsons Project) to "Pie in the Sky", because that's what the whole Dwight thing has been. Granted, if there's a chance, you look into it, but don't devote all your resources to it.

ESPECIALLY if you think you were gonna offer Scola (which I have no idea if that's the case, but in every deal, Morey offers Scola; "here, Milwaukee, have Scola"; "but we already have Ilyasova and Drew Gooden"; "so? I'm....DARYL MOREY!!")

If Dwight signs the waiver of opt out, then Orlando is up against it. They gotta somehow put a superstar next to him by the end of next season or he walks away after next season. He's not going to sign a 3-year extension midseason. He's gonna become a free agent and sign a 4 yr deal somewhere else. The only way he reups is if they have built a championship contender around him. Don't see how they're going to do that. They will basically be begging either DWill or CP3 to come there and play with Dwight and RA. Unless somehow they find another Gilbert Arenas in the 2nd round or in the low first round this offseason.

I think they are just delaying the inevitable.

And the other thing is, most likely CP3 and DWill will be entrenched wherever they are so Dwight will most likely walk away for nothing. He'll probably be able to sign with the Clippers outright to play with CP3 and Blake.

So, if he actually stays in Orlando another year, where does that leave Deron??? Off to Dallas most likely. NJ is going to be scrambling today to bring in other talent around Deron. And they're gonna fail. Oh, we could hand them Scola and Martin for expirings and Marshon Brooks. They ain't gonna do that and lock up their cap space.

I think NJ will have to move Deron or lose him for nothing. There's not really a choice. Without Dwight coming there this summer, NJ has no chance to retain Deron. He's gonna walk to Dallas. He has no reason to stay there.

I expect by the deadline we are going to have one of Dwight/Deron/Pau on our team. And I'm hoping it's one of the first two.

As long as Dwight signs that eliminate ETO, we still have a chance, NOT! April Fools yet?!?!?!?!?

All that may be true...but for the next 2 years they'll be championship contenders with easily the very best center in the game.

By the way...for all of you who thought this was a ploy....Howard just stripped away all of his own leverage in doing all this. This was no ploy. He may be indecisive...but he's still young and these are career choices that impact years and ultimately legacy.

    Sure, they've got a chance.

But they won't win it. Do you think...they are going to get past Miami, Chicago, and the Lakers or Spurs this year for a ring?

And it was a ploy, he wants to go to NJ, ideally be traded there, for not a whole lot of assets and look like the good guy. It started getting away from him when he knew Orlando was talking to Houston and not to NJ.

No, but looking back on it, they had all the components. Orlando does not have superior perimeter play. It's Dwight and mostly bench players. They'll make a run. Probably get into the 2nd round. But that's about it.

After it happens you might look back on it differently. They're at least in the discussion. Without Howard, they're not.

Man, that sucks. First Gasol says he doesn't want to play here, and now it looks like Dwight decided to opt-in to Orlando rather than risk getting traded here.

All of Morey's talk about other players wanting to come play in Houston sounds like a load of bull right now.

I'm talking about what was reported at the beginning of the season. Apparently, he wasn't happy about coming to Houston. Also (take it for what its worth) Bucher said recently that it was Gasol that has been pushing for the Bulls as a trade destination because he wasn't keen on the possibility of getting traded here.

Awesome. Dwight Howard just did exactly what we wish more players would do. I grew up watching players and franchises connected at the hip. Malone and Stockton were the Jazz...Jordan was the Bulls...Hakeem was the Rockets...Ewing was the Knicks. And that's how the NBA was marketed.

Howard feels loyalty to Orlando that may ultimately cost him some money on shoe deals....but he will be very wealthy (already is) and the Magic have their franchise player. I wish he were wearing Rocket Red, but this is good news. I wish more players in the NBA would do this.
