I think this guy is just trying to get some followers.

How come we haven't heard anything from any reliable sources?

ESPNs crew are not claiming it as their own story yet. So it must not be true.

Because 'the interview' was with him. So, we'll see if it is ever put up or not.

It's 30m and an additional year, at that salary rate, the following year would be 24, meaning they'd only lose ~6m over the 5 year period.

I am not sure. He is from Orlando and has tweeted pretty honestly before. He totally loses all rep if he's lying. Still could be but he also could be friends with Dwight.

I'll tell you one thing if this is true I feel like we may have been used to force Dwight's hand. He was ready to sign with the Nets and then as his agent told him the new CBA is going to screw if he just signs with the Nets he suddenly opened up the cities he would go to. So then at least the Magic had a few more options. And now maybe he heard through the grapevine that he may end up in Houston and he doesn't want to come here. ANd he doesn't want to throw away 30 mil so he caves and says okay I'll sign the ETO waiver. Could be... maybe

Yes but it's a guaranteed 30 mil. There's no guarantee he'll ever get that 30 Mil back. He could be the Yao or Bogut and never see another big contract.

And Dwight Howard actually being in dream land during these hours doesn't really help does it?

Adidas will more than likely offer him anywhere from an extra $5-20 million for him to be in a major market like NYC or LA.

That's why he refuses to go to Chicago because his next Adidas contract wouldn't be nearly as big as being the cornerstone NBA player in a newly hyped Brooklyn team.

Perhaps, but he has to have known about the new CBA all along. His agent wouldn't wait until now to explain it to him. Being traded via "rental" is also no different financially than simply being kept in Orlando if he wants to sign with the Nets (or any other team with max cap room): He will need to lose the extra year and $30 mil if he wants to get to the Nets. Waiving the ETO means that he retains the possibility of a 5-year deal in 2013, but then again he risks not getting anything at all if he gets injured next season. In any case, I am not sure that financially, it makes sense to waive the ETO in order to stop a rental trade.

Morey will trade for Howard because you don't get an opportunity to get a player like him everyday. It is high risk and high reward.

The more you risk the more you risk losing it all. Strangest trade scenario in a long time.

I never heard of this guy till today. I will buy it when someone more credible like Broussard says it. Heck I at least know who he is.

I agree with you. I think.

Certainly Fegan told him. Maybe didn't really get it until now. He has definitely waffling which means even now he is not sure what to do.

Maybe he thinks they'll trade him in the offseason and by waiving the ETO he gets a 10.5% raise instead of a 5%. Maybe he feels if he waives the ETO he actually gets an extra year out of the deal and a 3% higher starting salary that carries across the whole contract.

I don't know what they are discussing but if he he postpones being traded before the deadline now and waits till next year as opposed to just leaving the Magic high and dry this summer he could add an additional 65 million to his deal. Certainly he would have to consider that.

With his track record, "Dwight Howard Confirms He'll Sign Opt-In" is very different from "Howard Signs Opt-In"

I just wish he announces this where Morey would still have ample time to swing a deal or two.
