Love the idea of getting Howard whether he walks or not...if we don't get him we stay stuck on the mediocrity treadmill.

If we do and he resigns, then we are golden.

If he walks, then we just hurried along the inevitable rebuilding.

Agreed. Getting Howard gives us a direction either way.

Yeah.....makes sense to do that if you get a promise that he will sign with you long term.

Go for it, if thats the case!

But to give up the farm for two months of play and you're left with nothing to show for it......some may do that...but to me...that's r****dedly stupid.

Hell yes!!! We need him even if it's for a few months he is the most dominate player in basketball!!! No one on our team is to good to be traded for Dwight!

What's the alternative? topping out as a 7-8 seed in the west? This isn't a risk you're taking for Carmelo or Pau or Bynum, this is a risk you must take for the BEST big man in the league!

It's at least 27 games IMO and possibly more. With Howard we make the playoffs and have a shot at WC Finals.

we go from being medicore to being the bobcats if this trade happens. He will take a taxi up 45 to dallas and play there or a flight to NJ. You guys complain about mediocre every day, lets see how it feels to be bottom dwellers every season

you forget how much we might have to give up? everyone on roster is available meaning orlando will most likely take parsons, patterson, lowry and NY draft pick. ORL isnt taking on any big contracts AKA scola martin

He is a great player for sure but I don't get why folks think we have to trade the entire team just to get him here. It's a short term rental so the price should reflect this. Why isn't tossing them some expirings and a couple of 1st round draft picks not enough?

It won't take Morey long of having top 5 picks to get us going again. He turns 2nd rounders into solid 30 minute a game starters for crying out loud.

I'm not in favor of tanking JUST to get a draft pick, but I think the Rockets are in a good position to go all in and take a big risk for a big reward.

Starters can't play defense all of a sudden. Put Hill and Pats back in!

It really just depends what we give up for him.

It would be awesome if all they asked for was Scola and Martin with a young asset or two (Hill or Budinger).

But I seriously doubt that's going to happen. Most likely then not their going to want expiring's, young players(Parsons, Patterson and D-Mo) and picks(NY pick) for Dwight. In addition to also taking on Hedo's ugly ass contract.

We could end up with Lowry, Scola, Martin and Hedo as our core once Dwight bolts, and be in same position we are now but less young talent.

The risk is losing assets and taking on Hedo's big ass contract in the process~!

Like I stated above only way I support a trade for Dwight Howard is if we don't give up significant LONGTERM assets. I'd be more then happy to given them a combination of Martin, Scola, Budinger, Jordan Hill and even possibly Courtney Lee.

But guys like D-Mo, Morris, Parsons and even Patterson should not be in the conversation what so ever for a 21+ game rental!!

agreed, but im not sure we'll get him cheap...Orlando knows our only shot is to get him now and try to convince him to stay.

@WojYahooNBA: Magic source tells Y! "We're evaluating what we will do before 3 PM tomorrow," with disclosure that Dwight Howard will opt-out of deal.

And to be honest, I think we would have atleast some chance of him staying, especially with a deep playoff run. Heck, we still would have cap money to make a run at Deron. It might become something like, hey why am I giving up the fifth year and not you (Dwill)?

Lee is his friend, Lowry is a beast, McHale is charismatic. I mean it all depends on what we have left over after the trade but, if we could also land Wallace from Portland we could run a dominant defensive team of

    Lowry
    Lee
    Wallace
    Patterson
    Howard

@WojYahooNBA: Nevertheless, multiple league executives believe Magic's decision is now cemented that they'll trade Dwight Howard before Thursday deadline.
