Dream's MVP season came in his 10th year in the league. 27-12, with almost 4 blocks and 4 assists. MVP, DPOTY, Title. Beast.
But Captain Jordan had the luxury of playing with the top First Lieutanent Pippen. Also included were other players who were among the best in rebounding, defense, 3-point shooting. He also had the luxury to travel and not getting called.
The fact that Kobe is still getting comparisons to Lebron shows how enduring Kobe is. He's in his 16th season and Lebron is in his 9th. I don't think Lebron will ever match Kobe's best scoring season.
I remember that mavs game. He had more points on a better streak than he was during his 81 point game. He literally outscored the number one team(in great defense that year) in the mavs for 3 quarters by HIMSELF. Then he sat out the entire 4th quarter otherwise he could've done something amazing and none of that it was on a scrub team bs people come up with. Yea the suns series was a shame, they were about to knock em out and hten tim thomas hit a crazy 3 because dumb kwame tipped out right to him. Had that shot not happened, they would've gone on to play the clippers in the semis who they had a winning record against and thenthey had a realitic chance of going to the finals that year with Smush and Kwame in the lineup, to guys who aren't just OK, they shouldn't be in the league at that poin. Luke walton at starting SF and RAdmnoavic at PF. That is probably the worst team I have ever seen around a player. People bring up A.I. and and Lebron. Illgaskus, Mo Williams both all star players and perfect fit around lebron, varejao was a double double but didn't play as many minutes(his per 48 were great) and lebron had the perfect compliments. A.i. had a similar thing where he could drive and kick and had guys taking the garbage for rebounds and playing great d. Mainly, Kudos to Kobe and Phil J that year
Lebron has already had better seasons statistically than that season. And Kobe didn't play defense that season. Kobe is still getting compared b/c of his reputation/legacy. Nobody in their right minds still think Kobe is anywhere close to Lebron's level. And Lebron hasn't won a championship. That always hurts of course. But if you're talking pure statistics, Lebron 08-10 and this seasons blow Kobe's best seasons easily.
go check out tmac's 2002-2003 supporting cast. i can't look it up right now but a few highlights are: the two best players were mike miller and drew gooden, who were on the team at separate times because they were traded for each other. shawn kemp was on that team. he didn't play another nba game after that season. jeryl sasser played 1000 minutes that season after playing something like 36 minutes his rookie season. he would never play another nba game again. pat garrity started over 50 games. he never started another game in his career. and he had quite a few more years. there was some more but the fact that 3 guys who played major minutes either never started or played another nba game was crazy.
Agreed and damn, that team was horrible. Doc rivers did an amazing job with with that team and htat is when t-mac was arguable one of the best in the league. But still, the presence of a 17 ppg Mike miller and a over achieving darryl armstrong is slightly better than smush, kwame, luke, vladmir. None of those guys are even contributors in the NBA there was some more but the fact that 3 guys who played major minutes either never started or played another nba game was crazy.
Damn, Kobe withe the dunk And-1 on the 1 on 2 break just now in OT of the Lakers-Hornets game. Just hit an off-balance jumper. Now has 31 points. Dude is freakin ageless.
Agreed. You dont see the number of seasons, you see his age. for me its more impressive if someone have a better season at 40 years old, than if someone have a better season for their 14th season (could be only 33 years old)
