I was just about to post that D'Antoni is a bad fit for the players that he has. The knicks (especially melo) need structure. It's too easy not to resort to playground ball in D'toni's system. When you think about it, it makes sense why d'toni was successful with that style in Phoenix, it was because he had probably the best pg in the nba at that time running the show. Without that kind of leadership, d'toni system is ****.
Who is the most vocal, strongest willed person in that lockerroom? Melo. So he will take over and Melo ball will reign supreme.
Stephen A was talking about him being fired all morning long. Good move that he left and not fired? Lol smartass!
Also, melo has gone to the western finals. The guy does KNOW how to win. But it requires the RIGHT coach. If I were the knicks I'd make a play for Brad Stevens. It's not going to happen, but I'd put it out there.
I think JVG would rather coach the Russian national team than coach Carmelo in NY. That's not to say he doesn't respect Carmelo or his game, just that I don't see him doing it. Replace Carmelo with Durant, and he'd jump all over it... but who wouldn't!
Getting in the western finals doesn't mean the player knows how to win. Also, Chauncey Billups deserves a huge chunk of credit for getting the Nuggets that far. The Nuggets were pathetic before Billups, despite being a team leaking with talent. All of a sudden they trade for Billups, and they end up deep in the playoffs. Melo is no winner, he only played with one.
He "left" in that they told him he was no longer going to coach the team, but he could choose the headline. Fired or Resigned.
Chris Broussard reporting that Dantoni said the players didn't respect eachother and Melo is the core of our problem?
NYK is falling apart. I love this. Go go lottery! Melo undoubtedly think he runs that show and owns that town. It's everybody's fault but his.
