It worked out pretty damn good I'd say. they ended up with pick #1 and took Irving kid who's a stud. They're going to be stacked with young talent.

Yeah, but i don't really want a center who only averages 6 rebounds a game. That said, he's only like 24?

Does anyone see him growing into a dominant center? That is a sincere question. I have not watched enough of him to know.

My bad. They must have showed the highlights after they only showed the score and 15-second recap.

Exactly we get howard...you got to trust morey can sell him on building a team around him next year that will make you salivate ... plus pay him more.

they ended up with the #1 pick because they sucked without him....not because they acquired the #1 pick in the trade.

but i hear you..and it's why i'm fine with this trade...because i'm fine with this team sucking with the chance to dramatically improve if the alternative is more 8/9 seed and 14th pick mediocrity.

I hate the renting idea, don't think Dwight will resign here, he wants to team up with superstars and I don't think we have the tools to get them. We give up our assets, he leaves next season and we're screwed for years, no star FA will sign here and we'd go the OKC or Minnesota route, going through years at the bottom.

Magic say they will trade howard before the deadline if he doesn't commit to them beyond this season.

    Looks like he's getting traded.

He forced them to trade him so that he could go where he wanted AND get the money. You think he really cared about what Denver could get? FA walking and forced trade are NOT the same because FAs don't get as much money.

They can force their way to their preferred destination because they threaten to not sign with a team they don't like, scaring off potential trade partners. If more GMs were like Morey, just taking the rental and daring the player to walk after the season, the players wouldn't be able to force their way to where they wanted to go.

I got to believe we are in the running. It's just a matter of do they like our stuff better than NewJerseys stuff or Bynum. Maybe we are part of a three way deal with the Lakers and we still get Gasol. Who knows but something is going down tomorrow.

Not really. Just a lot of opinion. He thinks Morey is a solid GM; Dwight's a longshot; and Stern royally screwed the Rockets over.

Mannix mentioned that Lee wasn't in the rockets future going forward and that if he were Daryl, he'd trade Lee for Asik.

    That sounded like conjecture though.

Actually them ending up with the number one pick had nothing to do with how bad they were. They got the top pick from the Clippers for trading Mo Williams.

Correct, but they got a top 5 pick (presumably a franchise building player) by sucking.

Something the Rockets haven't sniffed in literally 10 years.

And let's not fool ourselves, the Cavs made that trade knowing full-well it was for the benefit of the future of their franchise, not the present state of it.

That's the reasoning behind the Rockets making this move.

You either win big now (Dwight resigns, Deron comes on board) or you win big (hopefully) later by sucking enough to get a good pick.

No more of this treadmill crap.

It's not really forcing. They are unrestricted free agents. But I know what you mean. They can go where they want and get the money too because the other team loses out and gets nothing back if they do not Snt. And all the teams cave in. I've never heard any team declare more loudly that they would never SnT a player than Cleveland did with Lebron and Lebron left anyway. In the end I am convinced Lebron would have left anyway but he is a rare dude that knows he's getting his no matter what.
