I've noticed that there has been a new lineup that is very intriguing that McHale has put on the court in the recent. It consists of: PG: Dragic SG: Parsons SF: Budinger PF: Scola/Patterson C: Dalembert/Scola For the PF and C position, since we only have three people that really man the spot until crunch time with Parsons, it is just two of the three bigs we have (Scola, Patterson, or Dalembert). I kinda like this lineup, with Parsons having such a size mismatch at SG and Bud for the kickout three. This is also the biggest lineup the Rockets can legitimately have out on the court, and they rebound the ball very well.
4/5 light skinned guys? Not surprised at all. Jk. I think it causes a lot of mismatches since Parsons fulfills the role of shut down defender by covering the 2/3 scorer.
I've always wnted to see Bud and Parsons play together. Parsons is our best defender which allows Bud to guard a lesser scorer. Buds off-ball defense is actually really good. Putting Bud with Martin is the poison lineup we've seen far to much this season.
who was guarding durant at the end of the game on the last shot? parsons. who held durant to 23 pts on 22 shots last game? parsons. who is the best and most versatile defender? parsons. who blocked the shot attempt at the end of the game against the nets? parsons. I CAN GO ON LOL. Parsons is our best defender period.
In crunch time I would like to see (at least while K-low is out) Lee Bud Parsons Scola P-Pat Then after his return barring no roster shake ups lol Lowry Lee Bud Parsons P-Pat
for large parts of the game yesterday it was Dragic, Lee, Bud, Parsons, Pat. Bud came out for the last play, and for defense they put in...Scola.
You all are right. Today's NBA is all about match ups. That is one reason why we have super stars. The other team cannot match up. Parsons works on so many levels because is is very tall and moves like the wind. Crazy fast with a killer first step. Decent hops and a developing mid range shot. Killer first step and crazy fast are not Bud assets. Morris probably will be gone without generating 10 minutes of NBA film. It is sad in a way, but when you find the second round steal of this young decade, the 14th pick drafted on a hope and a prayer of making the switch from PF to SF is going to be a small foot note in Rockets history. I really don't know about Parsons viability long term as a PF. Banging with 6'10" 270 pound men in the paint does not seem like his strong suite. I have been wrong before though.
Parson's number really are impressive. His weakness is getting to the foul line, and his other weakness is shooting free throws. But beyond that, he is a consummate team player. Shoots well from the field 47%, shoots acceptable from the 3 point line 31%, rebounds very well for a SF, Assist/turnover ration is exactly 2:1. Though since he steals more that he turnovers, he's at a plus with ball handling.
Defining a player to a position is stupid. It's about who he is going to guard. I think Parsons will play PF whenever we have to face a team like OKC or Dallas (dirk and durant). SF if we have to face Rudy Gay, PF against Matt Bonner.
