A starting 5 of Lowry, Lee, Parsons, Ppat and Howard.

Trade anything to make that happen.

We will only have him for 20 something regular season games.

The most exciting 20 games of my young Rockets life.

Courtney Lee is the guy that could get Dwight to stay for good.

Deal everyone, and sign Lee to a 5 year deal, just for Dwight.

2 days ago iwould have rental Howard.
But now it look he is going to NJ the next season.
I dont want to gives a half team for 20 games and then 3 years of pain.

If we give Sam + kevin Martin I'm ok. I dont believe Orlando will take that

The great thing is it's Lee's restricted year. So, he's on the books for a set value until he signs a contract. We could theoretically sign Dwight and Dwill, then use Lee's signing to push us over the cap and have the full MLE to add somebody else.

i would sign lee for a 5 year deal even if we dont land howard. he is such a great efficient player and would be easily tradeable to anyone.

If the statements are true that dwight doesn't want nj to trade for him cause he doesn't want the team gutted, that means he is going there no matter what. Why trade for him if thats the case. Then you give up what pieces you do have. I'm the other hand doing that deal and ending up with no one might be the only way the team will actually be bad enough to get a good pick.

So, what exactly is the thinking here?

Trade for rent-a-dwight and then handcuff him to the basement of Toyota Center in the offseason so he doesn't sign with Dallas?

Howard could possibly be a good sign and trade commodity if he did come here so if we can make it happen, why not!

wow all the posters here have gone bat**** insane. Why trade anything for a 20 game rental, a rental which would devalue our draft pick? Whatever "asset" you can get for DH isn't gonna be very big, itll be pity picks like what toronto or cleveland got for LBJ/Bosh.

I'd rather stand pat and keep all our young players rather than trade for DH and watch him go to Dallas/NJ in the offseson.

After watching Dwight last night against the Heat, I would do anything to get him. Despite missing 15 free throws, he completely stopped the Heat from getting in the paint with absolutely no help from his perimeter players.

You have JJ Reddick on Wade
    Hedo Turkoglu on Lebron
Jameer Nelson on Derrick Rose (when Orlando and Chicago played)

AND NONE of these matchups get destroyed simply because of Dwight.

I know the prospect of losing him is scary.

But my only interest is championships, not wins or playoff appearences. What avenue are you guys seeing to a title that I'm not, because this unit doesn't have one. So what will we really be giving up.

We get Dwight, he stays, and maybe we even add Deron Williams. This of course is the dream scenario, but I'm of the belief this isn't too far-fetched. Once we trade for him we'll own his bird rights and the right to give all that extra money. Plus we have enough pieces, that we could get him without destroying our team.

The second scenario is he bails, and we have waste our cherished assets. Suck for a year and get a high draft pick. But what makes you think Morey will suddenly have trouble acquiring more assets, he acquires them at will.

Gotta take a risk. But i honestly don't consider it a risk because we aren't really losing anything.

Push all your chips in. I've said it before, there's no conceivable offer you could put on the table that would be too much.

He's the best center in the league, best frontcourt player in the league, top 3 overall, and one of less than a dozen true franchise players in the league.

The worst case scenario is Houston remembers what it's like to be a relevant franchise again and we can fully quick start a rebuild.

    I'm DONE staying the course.

You just don't see it, yet. But you will if it plays out and Dwight comes here.

Please tell us what the master plan is this offseason once Dwight peaces out and we've traded away most of our team?

I hate to be so negative, I really do.

DH12 is just jerking everybody around. He wants the big city marketing machine. He's telling Orlando he wants to stay the rest of the season, but this has been a part of the game that his agent and NJ ownership have concocted, and everyone should have seen it coming.

He can let NJ make some deals to get more under the cap and just sign there outright (albeit losing that 5th big-money year).

We have some good players here. I don't want to hand them to Orlando so we can get 20 games of Dwight, and then be left with nothing. Hell to the no.

If I wind up wrong about all this in the end, however, I will concede your greatness, jopatmc. Maybe you're a poker player. I, obviously, am not. :)
