I can only hope any deal with Gasol is off because of Lowry :D

There is no doubt that is a huge set back for Morey. What is with the Rockets getting hurt at trade deadlines!! Tmac did, Kmart is questionable tomorrow, Jordan Hill just got back, Lowry out the rest of the month. Damn.

We need to get what ever we can for scola and Martin and evaluate lee and patterson then either sink or swim and spend big in FA!

Exactly my sentiments. Morey feels terrible, I bet. Stern's fiasco and now Lowry being out for a while are really screwing up his trade plans.

I don't see how Kyle having stomach flu is gonna stop a team from persuing him. He'll get better soon. It's not like it's a season ending injury or anything of that nature.

Don't forget Morey holding an "impromptu" press conference the next day looking tired and disheveled from working the phones all night, saying how close they were to making a big move.

    From what we know sure.

Put it this way, if you were buying a house, and the plumbing didn't work, but everything seemed like it would work in 3 weeks, wouldn't you cover your bases? Escrow some of the purchase price, have an out clause, something like that? Probably, you'd certainly want to. The only time you might not would be if you were getting a steal already, or were in a bidding war, etc.

Given the nature of the NBA trade deadline, I'm not sure there can be an equivalent out structured in a potential trade. And if Kyle can't work out, how would the acquiring team know for certain that what he has is just a very very short term illness?

That's not to say a deal can't be had. You've got professional doctors and evaluations, etc. for a team to rely on. But it certainly should impact trade negotiations.

If he's traded and remains out for a full 4 weeks he will have spent barely any time with his new team for this season. He'll also probably be out of basketball shape after a 4 week layoff. It depends on the severity of his illness and his ability to get back on the court and produce. People may not want to take a chance that they were willing to take before.

I'm surprised that no trades have happened at all throughout the NBA.

I was thinking the same but I think a trade now is taking into consideration a possible playoff run. Even with a solid trade, if we do not have lowry we probably won't make it to the playoffs.

Yeah me too, the last trade was Speights to Memphis, and the last real big trade was the paul to clippers deal.

Usually teams will wait first on any anticipated major deals to go through -- in this case, Dwight to whereever.

I'm interested to see what will happen if Dwight doesn't get traded anywhere, if anybody goes through with any deals.

Not when you have a plumber on staff. And it's not like the pipes underground are broken, there's just some loose piping under the sink. Nothing a little ducktape and pennicilin won't cover.

What about DWill? I haven't heard any rumors about him lately. What are the Nets thinking?

Teams should not wait for Dwight to get traded. There is some speculation he wont get traded at all.
