Looks like Myers wants Mangold money. StephStradley StephStradley Rutroh : @PHABMK6 Mangold contract was 8 years/$57.4 m. $25 million guar. That is what Myers agent is looking for as stated on XM radio 9 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite Stephanie Stradley @StephStradley Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Ugh. RT @AdamSchein: Myers says talks with Texans are more "conversations than negotiations". He is hitting the open market.
That is insane money for Myers and anyone that pays him that is a fool. The guy is good but he's clearly coming off of a career year, so who knows how many more seasons he'll have like that. He's also nothing without the zone scheme. I'm going to be bummed if we lose Mario and three o-lineman. As good as Arian is, you don't sacrifice pass rush and blocking for running backs.
Mangold doesn't earn Mangold-type money. You don't pay Centers that much. Especially in a zone scheme. Someone's gonna overpay for him and we lose out. But I can't blame us for losing if he's that demanding.
That's just crazy money for myers. He's had what? 1 probowl type season. Wasnt that long ago when he was getting destroyed by casey hampton and other nose tackles.
how about $200 million for 40 years, only the first 3 years guaranteed! ahh, man we could lose %60 of the nfl's best line.
Wow. At those figures, can't believe the talks with Texans are even "conversations." That's just a ludicrous amount for a C.
We better get Mario because losing Myers, Brisels, Winston to maybe be in play for Mario is very unfavorable. I believe 2 are replaceable (Winston, Brisel), but Myers is hard to replace & unfortunately he realizes his leverage...hope this ends well
This is where you let Myers test the market to get his reality check. He goes out, gets a couple of offers, and then you offer him something more reasonable. Nick Mangold is a better generalist center than Myers, and he's one of the faces of the Jets franchise. Chris Myers is a great system center, but he's not worth that to the Texans, and he's certainly not worth that to anyone else.
Konz at #26 is the insurance policy ...but you can't let your entire line disintegrate on you like this. Starting to become a serious concern. Can't just plug in 3 new guys and expect it to pan out with the zone blocking scheme.
Looks like we will be drafting a center in the first round. WR will have to wait till the 2nd. What is Myers smoking thinking he should get that kind of money?
There's no way we lose 3 linemen AND Mario. With the salary that would free up, you'd should be able to resign Mario under the cap.
I think it would benefit the Texans to try to trade them at this point as opposed to cutting them. Their money isnt significant enough to remove from the cap immediately. Again, this is only my opinion.
