Again you have to give them time. Remember Adelman started poorly with the Rox, if I recall right we were 0-6 to start off the Adelman era. Adelman's schemes are complicated and it's not surprising that a young team is taking awhile to get the hang of his coaching. Another thing you have to consider is just how down in the dumps the T-Wolves were as a franchise. Since I live in MN I have witnessed first hand the depths of despair this franchise was the last two years. It was so bad that they literally couldn't give away tickets. This season though people are amazed that the T-wolves are even relevant in March which hasn't happened since Sam Cassell was playing here. The biggest change in the T-Wolves isn't just their offensive schemes it is in attitude. Whereas last year if the Wolves got down in a game they would just fold but this season they continue to fight. That alone is a monumental achievement to turn a team that expects to lose to one that doesn't.
Adelman has to be one of the unluckiest coaches ever. His Portland teams were always one step short, the Sacremento team that basically had the Western conference finals locked up and then collapsed in the 4th, Houston with Yao and T-Mac injuried and now Rubio gone in Minny.
Adelman's teams always start slow, especially in his first season. His system takes a while for the players to grasp. I think the Wolves will be the biggest threat of overtaking the Rockets for the playoffs spot. I'd say they would have been a lock for the playoffs had they not lost Rubio for the season.
IF stan van gundy got fired from coaching the magic would you take him or no (probly won't come here anyway)
If JVG would be the hypothetical HC, does that mean Thibodeau would remain Ast. C? I would take JVG's group then. Although, I think Adelman can do the most, with the least.
Agreed. Not to make excuses for Adelman, and even McHale, but coaching a new team is difficult enough, but having had no real training camp to get their systems in place, etc. exacerbated the problems they are having now. Still, Adelman is the far superior coach among the three, and I have followed JVG's career even while he was still Riley's assistant in New York. JVG is a fierce competitor and has great basketball IQ. Adelman is just much better as a head coach.
They’re one of the most injured teams this season. Barea, Webster, Beasley, Darko, Pekovic, Miller, Lee, and now Rubio have all missed significant time. They won 32 games the past 2 seasons, and they might pass that up in this lockout shortened season alone. They were 27th place in defense last season and RA who supposedly hates defense has brought them to a much more respectable 16th. As others said, Rick’s offense takes awhile to learn, but after the All-Star break they’ve had the highest offensive efficiency in the league. They are contending for a playoff spot which no one would have thought possible. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Adelman has made big strides with that team and they’re going to keep improving under him. He is nothing short of a great coach.
last nights game against Tunder. James hardin ran the same play at least 6 times in a row, where they had a high pick and role with perkins and ibaka would cut nt he from the right side, everyone of them ended up in either a direct score or drive to the basket. our coaching staff was simply lost ,,, no chnage in startegy , no double team, nothing. i ma not a coach, but idont consider that good coaching.
