you think the national and local media along with 90% of sports callers are an idiotic small percentage? if you can't see that it's not a small percentage then I can't help you.
Same reason every other team has been doing it. If you're not interested, it ends the speculation, gives your players peace of mind, and lets your fans move on. If you are interested, free agents want to be wanted, and it makes Manning feel important. This whole "it has to be done quietly" thing is silly. If the team is that mentally weak that they would not be able to handle an inquiry into the availability & healthy of a once-in-a-generation-QB, then it has bigger problems to worry about.
I agree with your premise, but just wanted to point out that it's a well known FACT that 99% of talk radio callers are indeed idiots.
The Texans with Schaub will be the best team in the AFC next season and may even get to the Super Bowl. And if they get to the Super Bowl, well, anything can happen. They could win it. But the Texans with Manning will be the best team in the NFL for the next 3 seasons and will probably win 2 or 3 Super Bowls.
If Schaub doesn't make it to the postseason because of injury and Manning's team makes it to a championship game it's going to get crazy in here. I wonder if fans will want to re-sign Schaub?
It might be a blessing because Kube will be fired and we get a no non-sense coach, instead of a nice guy coach because NFL is anything, but nice. Manning will not lose games like Schaub, will not act like Favre and will play to win games, not go pad stats. Even if Manning does not come back with injury, we have Yates, or Leinart. Just bummed we can get a 1st-tier HOF QB as our QB when he wants to come.
i said this before, i'll say it again, schaub needs to win the superbowl or hope denver/titans/etc... (w/ manning) don't. worst case for schaub is a manning led team knocks him (us) out of the playoffs next season and goes on to win the superbowl. as unfair as it might be, if that happens schaub would be done as a texan, in the fans view. and schaub can thank the texans FO for that. if they would have come out from the beginning and "backed" their guy the fans/media wouldn't have been so riled up.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Texans/comments/qt0ag/word_through_the_grapevine_is_that_manning_has/ Word through the grapevine is that Manning has chosen Denver. (self.Texans) submitted 59 minutes ago by pwylie
Contenders? Maybe, it all depends. That defense is aging in a few spots(specifically the secondary.) Maybe he can help transform Demarius(sp?) Thomas into a legit franchise WR. BSPN is gonna be all over Bronco's camp lol.
i'd take broncos surrounding receiving talent plus wayne over colts. that said, i don't see him winning a super bowl with denver.
Jon Linder WQAM Miami, Sports Host Wow.. I'm seeing tweets about Peyton Manning possibly meeting with the Titans and Texans. Is this becoming Favre-ish? #torturingIndy From www.peytonwatch.com Anyone caught any wind of this or seen tweet(s) Jon Linder is referring to? When I heard Tennessee very vocally expressing interest Sunday, I thought this might finally be a situation that forces the Texans to get involved.
The tweet from Miami WQAM sports host reads "Wow..I'm seeing tweets about Peryton Manning possibly meeting with the Titans and Texans."
Just ran across this on the Titan's main board as well. It comes from an established poster over there. That said he didn't say who said it other than where it came from. So take it with a grain of salt as with all the other reports. Here is the post.... Link: http://www.gotitans.com/goForum/showpost.php?p=839046&postcount=15
http://www.sulia.com/source/S-235231/ Second post down. I think he may be confusing us with the Titans though....bastid!
"The Texans recently inquired about Manning, according to a source. If they get seriously involved, the Texans might be considered the Broncos' biggest threat..." http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_20156608/broncos-among-teams-talking-contract-peyton-manning
