It's time to wave the white flag on the 2011-2012 season

There are 24 games left in the year and Lowry will be out 10 to 15 games. Goran's contract is up after this year and we likely won't resign him in my opinion. The Rockets need to take whatever they can get for him. Who knows maybe we can get a future 1st for him, but that almost unimportant. What matters is our draft position. Without Dragic we wouldn't have even beat the Nets on this road trip. As crappy as it is to say....we don't need to be winning games now.

Then if the Martin/Dalembert for Bogut/SJax trade is really on the table then it should be done. The trade makes sense for both sides, so I can see some form of this trade actually being reality. Bogut's value is as low as it can get and this deal would help the Bucks to get ahead of the Knicks which makes our pick even better. Yes, Bogut is often hurt, but there aren't going to be any other centers with his offensive and defensive talent that are available. IMO he is better than Nene (with the same injury drawbacks) who we were supposedly ready to give a much bigger contract to.

If we were to trade away Dragic, Martin, and Dalembert then our first rounder could jump up 5 to 7 spots. A trade with the Bucks should help improve our Knick's pick. The Bucks would be significantly better with Martin and the Bear shoring up 2 of their weakest positions.

I hope Morey is thinking along these lines and I hope Les actually allows Morey the option of waving the white flag on this season to improve our position for the next couple years.

    Opinions?

Thing is, was this an actual possibility? Or was it a sportswriter/blogger's invention?

If Les is determined to make the playoffs, he must acquire a point guard that doesn't suck. When Jonny Flynn is on the floor, the air is sucked out of the stadium, Hell's Maw opens and demons spill forth, gibbering and shooting fire from their a$$es. It's even worse than Scola's defense.

Ramon Sessions is available, but at what price?

I'm not against making moves to set up the future---Morey has hinted at this in past interviews, anyway. Things look a little bleak: Lowry out another 10-15 games, KevinM with a "shoulder strain" (ahem).

    Major crossroads time.

Hopefully Lurch has a bag full of new toys, possibly in the form of Bogut and Cpt Steve Jack, come the end of this week so his offensive scheme based on limited movement and heaving contested jumpers at the rim as the shot clock expires looks even less efficient!

    Must... keep... battlefighting!

I agree. However a roster of:

    Hill / Smith / Thabeet
    Scola / Patterson
    Parsons / Bud / Morris
Lee / Jackson (cut TWill after the 15th as there is no use for him after that)
    Flynn

still might win you too many games. But then again...48 minutes of Flynn will have an effect. And if that doesn't do it, move Scola over to C for the 2nd 1/2 of the game - the express lane is now open....

    [Edit]
I would be open to trading for Okafor and NO's #1 (I'm sure there would be some top 5 protection on this years but I'd still take it) for Thabeet, Hill and TWill. That would leave us with a roster of:
    Okafor / Smith / (Bogut)
    Scola / Patterson
    Parsons / Bud / Morris
    Lee / Jackson
    Flynn / some scrub

That is a pretty terrible team.

Flynn is beyond terrible. The drop off from Lowry/Dragic to Flynn is monumental.

Lee is nice, but he can't create and he is undersized on defense. If anything I would see a healthy Jackson starting over Lee.

    Parsons/Bud is solid.

Scola/Patterson is solid, but one plays no defense and the other plays little offense and doesn't rebound well.

Hill/Smith is pretty bad. They might both foul out. If anything I think we would see Patterson primarily at center with Marcus Morris getting spot minutes at the backup PF and backup SF.

Evan Turner? You mean Philly's #2 overall pick who is their starting SG that is averaging 22 ppg, 12 rpg, and 3 apg over the past 3 games? I'm sure Philly is dying to get rid of him since they made him a starter 4 games ago. ;)

This year has been an utter waste of time.

Didn't play the 09ers to find out if they could develop, so they were not extended.

Didn't play the first round pick Morris to develop him.

Held on to veterans when they should have been traded for future picks.

Watched attendance and TV numbers decline due to fan apathy for the way the org is run, fans are not stupid and patience is thin.

Hired a guy who can't coach and whose communication with his players looks like it sucks.

Just a complete terd of a season.

    Well done Daryl.

I agree with the OP, its time to close up shop and just let the young guys like Morris, Smith and Parsons develop.

    Note of interest:
If Milwaukee can push NY out of the playoffs, we would be penciled in for the 8th or 9th overall pick in the draft (depending if Cleveland can push NY further down). Given the difference in record's among the eastern and western conference non playoff teams. Right now only the Kings and N.Orleans have worse record then NY in the west.

With that said I wouldn't mind including PPat or Bud in a trade with Milwaukee ;)

Yup, and it's going to stay that with our current front office.

I really dont see why we should remain competitive? For what? Half of the players will be gone by the end of the season, I think the goal was to have them play hard the 1st half of the season to boost up their trade value to trade them and move on.

Also i dont understand why people want us to make the playoffs saying that now is the best time to pay off our Nets 1st round pick debt, IMO I think we should pay that pick off until our future is resolved and dont really have a need for it.

I'm pretty sure philly is just showcasing him.. he averages around 24 mpg this season, but the last 3 games he has been having around 40 minutes.. But i do give credit to turner for being productive.

For the first time in my life as a Rockets fan, I don't know the direction in which the franchise is heading. We overvalue all of our players to the extent that we will never propose an even trade to a partner, where we will only see 'potential' trades.
Stuck in the middle of the pack once again, with no real potential stars in the lineup and the only bright spot of the team this season is currently out of the lineup.
I really hope next season we blow this whole team up. Keep Lowry and some of our young core players like Courtney Lee and Parsons, trade for future picks and start rebuilding NOW.

It's a bad time to be a Rockets fan, but you gotta endure the bad to appreciate the good I guess. At least we aren't the Wizards.

It's too late to tank. The Rockets couldn't possibly lose enough games to have a realistic chance of landing in the top three. If you want to tank, you have to make that decision at the beginning of the season, not near the end.

I dont klnow what to do with this team but just love em and go wherever direction they go.

BUt i cant take another loss to raptors of league.
