Don't see how we ever get a top 5 pick without doing something like this. Expensive though, he makes $13.5 million next year.

I don't trust anything that's directly associated with Stern. For basketball reasons, of course.

This is exactly what Morey should do, take on that contract, help them out for future picks.

my reading comprehension is quite questionable today. So they're willing to give us their first round(unprotected?) if we would take on okafor's contract? If so, Lex's prayers have been answered. Get it done.

    Is it commissar approved?

Asside from Jason Smith ($2.5 Mil 2013/14) and team options; if the Hornets move Okafor's contract, they will have the books completly wiped after the 2012/13 season.

We should pretend to trade with N.O.
and then at the last minute, pull out.
    for paybacks' a b*tch reasons...

then send the league's office that infamous picture of Morey.

Wouldn't be able to amnesty him.

But, the bad teams of the league should be lining up to do that trade.

Why shouldn't the cap flexible rockets in need of a 2nd Center be lining up to do this?

The Rockets should be lining up to do this, they are not going to be contending for the duration of Okafor's contract, this is exactly the type of move that you do to get a high pick.

The major concern here is that it takes out out of any possible 2012 FA's. However, this is basically the going price of any Center these days so you may be overpaying him but it's almost market rate. Okafor is also a decent center and better than Dalembert when healthy imo.

Depends on the protections on the pick. I do not think Okafor is a bad player when healthy. Home town boy, you know he'd love to come to the Rockets for sure.

Right now N.O. has the #3 and the #14 pick (if season ended without a lottery). The #3 pick can net you Harrison Barnes, Jeremy Lamb or Thomas Robinson. Hard to pass up a Okafor and Barnes trade for something like Bud or Dragic even.

True, but he would allow Dalembert to come off the bench (given his streaky play, I'd be all for that)

It really comes down to if you can get the higher of the two picks.

    Scola/Thabeet for Okafor/1st round pick?

Nvm. New Orleans says no; depending for their plans with Eric Gordon, potentially asks for Martin or a combo of Patterson/Morris/Thabeet
