The Rockets hired this guy as a scout in the off-season. He was responsible for recruiting Patrick Mills to St. Mary's.
You don't trade a guy away that is playing at Lowry's level with that contract. ESPECIALLY when your backup PG isn't under contract for next season.
They have been linked to Bogut already, and seems to be a good fit. A deal for Bogut makes sense, and the Rockets have the cap space to take Stephen Jackson with Bogut.
Not really, but dragic is the only guy who can get to the rim off the bounce. Here is my problem with trading for gasol, the cycle. When does the cycle stop for this team? Gasol has this yr and nxt, how does he handle the no extensions policy by morey? How will he handle being shoped or being talked about in every trade scenerio? Looking at gasol history, not very well. Its like an endless poverty cycle for the rockets. Id rather go after a brooke lopez if he checks out and lock him up for 5 yrs. At least then we would have aa and 23 yr old big getting better. Next to him is the shot blocker rebounder mcgee. Dump scola and martin, resign lee. Now at least you have 5 sub 26 yr olds getting better.
Wow, this is coming from the person that hated the trade last season while most of us were going cartwheels. I remember you doggin Dragic pretty hard.
He will get more than Lowry, we gave Lowry the contract before he exploded. Lowry has been putting up big numbers pretty consistent and against good teams. We have yet to see that from Dragic, and this game was against a D-Will-less Nets and we still barely won. I always liked Dragic especially after he murdered the Spurs in the playoffs, and I'm glad we got him and a first round pick for just Brooks (we made out like robbers in that trade in my opinion). He has potential to be better than Lowry because he has the physical tools, and he picked up a number of things from the master PG himself. But in the end Lowry is still our biggest trade piece, but also the piece we are least willing to part with for many good reasons.
I agree with that completely...at some point you have to lock some guys up at the same time to win..too much player turnover. That's why i'm leaning towards a lowry trade. He's gone in 2 years. Start building something for the next 4-5 years, if you trade for Gasol.
You might be surprised. These are new times in the NBA. He will get offers but its going to be from a very small amount of teams needing a point guard. Those teams are almost all out of cap space to offer anything beyond the lower mid level which is the ONLY thing a tax paying team can offer. Thats actually a rule in the new CBA. Regardless, the Rockets will be more than able to offer Dragic up to the normal mid-level contract.
I think we will find out with Brooks. What he gets might give us a good indication of what Dragic gets. Teams like the Lakers should be able to sign him when he comes back right? I'm actually surprised the Lakers aren't working out something with Brooks and is instead willing to give us Gasol for one of our PGs, but then again Brooks is worth less than Dragic and Lowry.
