Another start by Dragic and another really good game...he can handle the pressure. I'm good with trading Lowry. Give Lull the back up spot.
Lowry getting ill might be a blessing in disguise to get Dragic in the starting lineup. He is a starter. He gets better and better as the game goes by. Remember how he dominated last year in the last 5 or 6 games of the year? Even if his shot is off, he still breaks down the defense by getting in the paint. However, with the Lakers its not about how good Gogi is. They MUST get someone back they can sell to their fanbase and other core players. Realize that with the Lakers they must consider the Public Relations side to trades like this that on the surface seem one sided. Mitch Kupchek has an ego, and wont make a deal for Gasol that doesn't bring back a household name.
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/e...-deadline-buzz-3912-rondo-lowry-off-the-table Chris Mannix of SI.com reports that the Rockets will not include Kyle Lowry in any discussions for Pau Gasol. Lowry's value has honestly been raised to an awkward point. His small-ish contract means he's exceptionally moveable and easy to fit a team around, salary-cap-wise. But he's playing at an All-Star level, and surrendering him essentially means giving up an All-Star who isn't treated as such. Don't know if that was already posted or not.
Mitch Cupcake..... can do whatever he wants... Lakers org is in disarray.....they are not in the best situation.... Kobe is never going to age.... it seems....but Gasol and others will.
Well then should we trade Kyle? It certainly seems Dragic suffers in a backup role. I'd rather keep Kyle, trade Goran, and try to get a husta PG like Lowry off the bench was a couple yrs ago
It depends on other moves that are in the works. There is potential to get both Gasol and Bogut. I think if you can get that front line then giving up Lowry is probably the right move to make. I dont think Mitch "Cupcake" does the deal unless there is a well known point guard coming back. Thats just part of the game of being a GM in Hollywood. Giving up Gasol for Scola/Dragic/fillers would automatically be written as one of the most one-sided trades of all time just on name value alone.
I think everyone would rather keep Lowry of course, but anytime you have the opportunity to get a player like Gasol, you have to look at all your options. However, Lowry's considered a major piece for the franchise going forward by Morey. He's said so multiple times. He's not moving Lowry for Gasol unless there are other plans in the works.
Other plans are always in the works... but because every other GM is shielding themselves against deals coming from Morey...... it is near impossible.
i think it's clear Dragic isn't a back up. He's going to get better with minutes also....it'll make it easier to trade Kyle...just depends for who.
The other plan would have to begin with obtaining another back-up point guard. Flynn would hit the Rockets fanbase like AIDS in West Hollywood in the 1980's. (Sorry, that was tasteless).
Lakers will have to give us a backup point guard in return for Dragic/Scola/whoever else goes for Gasol (Martin?)
Tasteless or not, your right. If Lowry is on the move, Dragic has to be staying. My speculation is, IF Lowry gets moved, Dragic is staying and they are going to make another move to bring in Bogut. Lowry is great, but great pointguards can still be great on a bad team. Having a frontline of Bogut and Gasol going into 2012/13 puts this team much, much closer to winning a championship then having an elite PG with the group that is currently constructed. Almost every team has an all-star calliber PG on it, not too many teams have a frontline that can trump Bogut/Gasol.
I actually think thats overblown, and just speculation within the Clutchfans circle and Poopsworld(RocketGuy). If your another GM would rather have someone that calls you alot and keeps the communication flowing or one that doesn't wont even take your calls and blows your off? In the line of work I do, I appreciate Salesreps that pursue my business consistently while remaining professional. There is a fine line between being positively aggressive and being annoying, but in this case Morey has something other teams want, why would they NOT want him to keep calling? Morey is a rival GM's wild dream. Someone that always wants to make a deal. Why would they NOT want that? Is he aggressive yes... but thats what it takes to be successful in business, and sometimes to make your client or partner happy.
Me too, I think Dragic runs the offense better than Lowry, he is much more aggressive attacking the iron and settles for 3pters far less often. Trade Lowry if you can get Gasol for him and lock up Dragic for 4 years. DD
Dragic is awesome. But Lowry is already locked up at a bargain contract. That contract is just too good to trade away for his level of production.
Dragic seems to play much better as a starter than a reserve, but I still prefer Lowry for that position. I hope the Rockets can get something good in return for him next week.
