    Teams desperate for Manning:

Miami - 84.9 team QB rating, #23 passing offense

Arizona - 73.9 team QB rating, #17 passing offense

Denver - 73.5 team QB rating, #31 passing offense

Kansas City - 73.0 team QB rating, #25 passing offense

Washington (now out) - 73.3 team QB rating, #14 passing offense

Jersey (now out) - 78.4 team QB rating, #21 passing offense

Seattle - 77.6 team QB rating, #22 passing offense

Seems kind of obvious to me....

    Half the league hasn't called.

No one with a QB in Schaub's class is pursuing Manning....which does say something about the perceived risk. The guys falling over to try and get him are ones with nothing to lose at the position.

Which of those teams has an offensive line better than ours? Specifically pass protection, since we have to be one of the best OLs out there for the run game.

lol. talk about "glass half-empty". how about: "Half of the league has called"?? can you give me an example of another free-agent in the history of sports that half of the league has pursued?

also, who else is a QB "in Schaub's class"? because you shouldn't be lumping in schaub with all the qb's that are better than him. or do you think teams with qb's like brees or brady, or eli or rodgers or roethlisberger, or rookies like cam or dalton should be pursuing him?

seems kind of obvious to me. there are teams that should be looking into him, and there are teams who obviously shouldn't. the texans fit into the former.

    Spoken like a true fan.

I think this might be one of the strangest posts I have ever seen. Someone wants their team that they supposedly support to fail miserably after a breakout year in order to make 2 people lose their jobs.

The Texans with Manning will likely be the best team in the AFC next season.

I win either way, so I'm not sweating it. If he goes to another team, we'll kick his ass the same way we did to his Colts when he brought them here in 2010.

There's a huge difference between being cautious, and not even calling his agent to put the guy through a workout monitored by Kubiak.

There is obviously risk if you blindly offer him a contract. But there's little risk if you call his agent, and request a throwing session with your meeting. If they decline, you say no thanks. If they are willing to go along with it, then work him out with Kubiak watching. Afterwards, decide if the arm strength is all there. If it is, sign one of the best QBs ever. If he's not physically right to your satisfaction, roll with Schaub.

I would bet the Texans have at least tepid interest but they are a classy organization and won't express it because of their respect for Shaub.

The teams chasing Manning are ****ed at the QB position. Texans are just fine with Schaub and they have no reason to burn that bridge with Manning when its still uncertain he will be able to play much less at the level we are used to seeing. I just think its too big of a risk to take with those neck injuries. The man has had 2 neck surgeries in the past 12months and the doctors still haven't cleared him to play thats a huge red flag to me.

How hilarious would it be if Manning led the Texans to their first franchise victory ever in Indianapolis next year? (and yes I know but but he's not coming here)

Calling this one now: Denver drafts Brandon Weeden. He's a much better QB than Tannehil and would be a top 15 pick if he were 22. It's like drafting a veteran QB. Elway keeps Tebow on a really short leash next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him yank him after a 35-21 loss to a good team, where Tebow runs the offense really well, but misses some passes.

I never said I want them to go 6-10. If they fail to even bother going after him and for some reason the texans go 6-10 I think kubiak and smith should get fired.

Even if we have another injury-riddled season?? We're not playing the likes of Tampa and Cleveland next year. We've got Green Bay, New England, and Baltimore on our plate. If we have as many injuries this next year as we did this past year, there is no way we go 10-6 again.

And I don't understand how some of you are making this such a black and white issue. He's NOT the Peyton Manning of 4 years ago.....he's had multiple neck surgeries, will be 35 by the time the season starts, and hasn't thrown a football in game-speed in front of anybody that matters yet. Stop making it seem like the Texans are stupid for being cautious.

Has anyone from the Texans' organization publicly said they are not perusing Manning?

You'd think if they were dead set against it they would want to quash those rumors.
