Ill take that Clippers trade anytime.
14 mil in expirings. Prospect depending on injuries on Gordon. And was it 2 first rounders?

Compared to 2 non defensive players who are sometimes how and mostly not?

    Good eye, guy.

Remember that trade was made in the offseasaon. Martin and Scola were both coming off very good seasons. Martin was a consistent scoring machine, and Scola was coming off his best all-around season. Odom was also coming off a very good season. Dragic put up good numbers when Lowry was injured last season, and he would have been their new starter. Throw in the first round pick as well.

The Hornets had a lot of talent in that trade. A good mix of vets and young potential as well as a pick.

In the Clippers trade, the Hornets got one first round pick and gave up two second round picks. Gordon, Aminu and Kaman were the players involved.

Thanks for noticing my eye, person

Looks like a trade did go through:

Roland Lazenby gives up credibility to Twitter, gets back 45% increase in followers.

Seriously this Roland Lazenby rumor is in all the basketball forums now. Wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to get his name out there...and Clutchfans fell for it.

If it was GS I'd say Ellis gets dealt too. That way the Lakers get their All Star level PG they've been seeking.

    My worst case scenario:

Trade 1: Nets realize that DWill is bolting so they trade him for Gasol. Gasol and Lopez is a nice front line. Still not enough but will sell tickets and better than losing DWill for nothing. Pick up a new PG via FA or draft and you are ready for 2012-13.

Trade 2: Orlando realizes that Howard is bolting so the trade him for Bynum and parts and picks. Bynum is not going to replace Howard but "if" he can stay healthy, he's probably the best C you can get for a walking Howard.

I know Howard says he doesn't want to be a Robin but the lure of playing for the Lakers with Kobe and DWill and the extention money might be too much to say no once he's there.

Now, would the Nets want Gasol or would they prefer Lowry, Patterson, Dally, and a pick for DWill?

Gordon wants out of NO, and is a FA next season. He didn't even agree to a contract extension. So take him out of the equation, you have:

    1. Kaman's expiring contract
    2. 2 LOW NO first rounders
    3. Aminu (latest freak athlete bust)

Yeah, I'm sure that's much better than Kmart, Scola, Odom, Dragic.

And its not even like 14M is a good thing, who wants to resign in a team who is owned by the NBA? Seriously outside of Landry, Okafor and Jarrett Jack I don't think they have any good players. If they had made the trade they would have had this lineup:

    Kmart/Dragic/Odom/Scola/Okafor

off the bench: Xavier henry, Jack, Landry

^That's a solid 8 man rotation, enough to get into 8th seed, possibly higher since their coach is excellent and IMHO one of the best up and coming coaches in the L.Playoffs would have given the team more revenue, and that would have attracted potential buyers to the franchise. Instead, they have a team devoid of talent and is just wasting around. They have no team success, and Gordon who was supposed to be the centerpiece of the trade is leaving, probably to go back to the Clips after the season. Yeah, that's SOOOO attractive to potential owners.

That's a solid 9-10th seed team. The Hornets are trying to rebuild and clear some cap so that they're easier to sell. That's why the Clips trade was better for the Hornets than ours.

Lol this is like classic "can't see the forest for the trees".

I'm sure everyone agrees the Hornets would have more wins with Scola/Martin but that doesn't make it a better trade for the Hornets.

If I was buying a team that just lost CP3 would I want a stripped down lean payroll with multiple 1st round lottery picks as compensation or aging expensive sub-all-star stars? If I'm buying the team, I want my chance to get Kevin Durant which is what the prospect of having multiple lottery picks brings you. Every owner with hundreds of millions to spend wants his marks and that's a great selling point that you get to buy a team and draft the top pick to start off.

Clippers trade was better because the team has a better chance of being bought as a a result.

Is that what Morey is offering though if DWill is not up for signing an extention? That would seem pretty steep for a rental.

You are proposing two almost simultaneous trades to the Lakers for Dwill and Dwight. What I'm saying is one of the two team, either NJ or ORL, will be able to get more value from us or somebody else than one of Bynum and Pau.

First of all, Pau doesn't really fit in NJ if DWill leaves. If DWill goes, NJ needs the cap space and youth to build effectively. They'd be more interested in shuffling Pau to us after they get him and don't think Morey doesn't know and somehow he's gonna be dumb enough to participate in a 3-way deal getting DWill to the Lakers.

What Morey is attempting to do right now with all these talks is to craft a multiple team deal for Dwight, peddling our assets around the league. And his main concern is being able to get Dwight and still have enough cap space left over to sign DWill outright in the offseason, with enough draft picks and youngsters and expirings left to actually trade for DWill if NJ finally throws in the towel.

And vice versa, if Darryl can get DWill, because NJ decides to throw in the towel and get value back for him, then he will turn some of our assets into DWill, say Lowry/Patterson/Thabeet/pick for DWill and then save the rest of his assets to trade for Dwight on Thursday or convert them into expiring contracts and draft picks so that we can sign Dwight outright in the offseason. This is the deal.

The bottom line is Orlando has to have a resolution to the Dwight saga by Thursday. They either have to have a commitment from him to stay at least one more season or they have to trade him because they cannot risk him walking away at the end of the year for nothign and then they are stuck with a total trash roster and no room to sign free agents. They won't hamstring themselves like that. They will have a one-year or longer commitment from Dwight or they will trade him by trade deadline Thursday.

Once again, Pau does not fit in NJ with nothing else there. He's too old. And there's nobody available on the free agent market that's going to turn that team around that is going to be willing to sign there. Eric Gordon for the max to play with Pau in NJ? Not happening. Asik for max or close to max in NJ? Not happening either. Pau is in the wrong age bracket for a rebuild. NJ's decision is going to be based on what Orlando does.
