So you suggest managements strategy should be make no move unless it is for a top 10 player in the NBA, only of which two are currently available...? Check it out- Simmons and House (i believe its their deal) have a theory about players being equivalent to money: Nickle (thabeet), dime (parsons), quarter (lee), half-dollar (scola, martin), dollar (lowry), and $2 Bill (N/A to the Rockets), for example a dollar is always worth more than 4 quarters and even two half pieces any day of the week. So, if you get another opportunity to trade Scola and Martin ($0.50 each) for Pau ($1) you do it.
Most likely those rumors are smoke screen anyway.... More like yeah... Houston is going for Gasol.... Then meanwhile we are really going for a Rondo, Smith or Al Jefferson.
Never said that ....IMO Gasol is not the most attractive commodity considering contract and value... his stock has fallen. He is not the Gasol that won the championship.... 2009 Gasol.
hey... all I am saying if we can trade for Gasol and flip him for better value long term.... I'd be all for it.
and guess what...we are trying to flip a back up PG and an even more age affected undersized, non-shot blocking PF. what are you hoping to pull with that package?
You want to dictate how the conversation unfolds or what? why should I get banned. I'm not criticizing anyone. In one breath you call Pau the Ostrich unworthy of being traded for your star point guard and then turn around and credit him with being a 20 / 10 guy and a great passer yet you have a problem with my posts screaming agenda and credibility? Give me a break. I've always liked the Rockets. I also like the Lakers. I'm a big Gasol fan all the way back to his Rookie of the Year with Memphis. Is that okay with you pal? Does that pass the smell test for having interest and wanting to participate in a running dialog without insulting anyone? Or do you have another set of rules I'm supposed to be aware of when you toss out the threat of banning?
Maybe we trying to trade for Gasol and bring Lull over next year... Trade Lowry and Martin for a Howard Rental.. don't work out we can do a sign and trade with him... just some thoughts..
LMAO! Repped! I've been sayin the Lakers are all posturing and bluffing... Beasley and Sessions - 2 guys they want but they're so far into lux tax land that they'd be payin double their salaries... nobody would take MWP or Waltons contract, they dont wanna lose Kobe or Bynum, the rest of their roster is expiring or scrubs... they cant plug their holes without moving gasol... and his contract is poison - push away from the table, Morey...
Has anybody reported that this is done? Because I haven't seen anything to indicate anybody's going anywhere.
What is done? nothing is done - cause the Lakers cant do anything til they unload Pau poison contract....
We won the T-Mac trade big time. It's not even close. If we had a Morey-type GM in 2004 who could've immediately surrounded that roster with the likes of Scola, Lowry, Brooks, Landry, etc. the Rockets would've at least been conference finalist if not more during the T-Mac/Yao era.
No one is denying that, the fact though is if we give away Lowry (19.58 PER) and Scola for Gasol that in itself would be a downgrade talentwise.
Come on Kjay. Sure they can. They can trade a pick for a lesser point guard like Sessions or Calderon or Felton and use their Odom TPE to pay for it in a cocaine heartbeat and you know it! They've been in conversations with those teams about those players for weeks. It's not their favorite option, but that doesn't mean it's no option at all.
Not surprised that Morey's pursuing Gasol so aggressively. He knows it's put-up-or-shut-up time. He has been applying this strategy of making smart moves for undervalued players with hopes of eventually swapping some of them for bigger names. Gasol's about the biggest name he can hope to get to Houston. Fans' patience is wearing thin and it seems like a lot more people are starting to question whether Morey's up to the job. He knows just making smaller moves with an eye toward this summer isn't going to cut it this time. I think we're in for some major change and I'll bet Gasol's part of it, Lowry or no Lowry.
