Lets get it done and build around gasol. He would be the best player we have had since the development of yao.

They know they can't move forward paying Gasol, Bryant and Bynum. One has to go.

    Minnesota...

either we take Pau and Kmart goes to Minnie and Beasley/Scola/Dragic to LA

    or my preference...
Pau to Minnie, Pekovic+ to us and Scola/Beasley/Dragic to LA

both scenarios would include a few expirings/picks to jockey around...

or Cleveland... with Sessions+ goin to LA for Kmart/dragic

Enough! You've come in here shortly before the deadline w/your Laker propaganda/agenda, trumpeting how the Lakers would never take anything less than our star PG for the Ostrich. You remind me of those guys that dwell on stock boards trying to get people to buy when you're selling off. When it appears that the Lakers could very well have to take "role players and spare parts", it's "Kobe's not going to like that and Mitch will be in trouble..Blah, blah, blah." Now, "It's quite possible LOWRY AND SCOLA aren't enough."
You won't cross the line to get banned, but you're working the board hard.

It's really about what these guys are worth to Y'ALL. CDave, you know damn well Scola will play the four and flourish at his natural position next to a guy like Bynum...whatever he looks like here. Luis will have a lot of help. The spacing will benefit all and the added flexibilty will help offset whatever you might lose defensively(that and BYNUM). Scola is all winner and SHOULD be playing for a contender. And while I think the Rockets should have dealt him after the WC, I suffer no illusions about what a perfect fit he'll be. For us, he's a decent sized contract that we need to move to set up the rest. But don't pretend you don't know what he'll mean to your team.

As far as Kyle goes ...Not only is he one of the best PG's in the game, but he obviously has crazy value for his contract. Whoever has him gets a stud w/ some upside and added flexibility w/ the cap. And while I respect Derek Fisher, you guys haven't had anyone close to Kyle up top since you know who.
And having Kyle will free Kobe up defensively and offensively.

I know you're licking your chops at the prospect of landing both these guys, but, again, it's going to take more than is being offered.

On Pau - It's a given that he steps in for us and puts up 20 and 10 ....He's a great passer and brings the size we need. OUR offense will run smoother and there will be more of a defensive presence. Yes, we'd have another move set up after this one in an attempt to get in position for some sort of short window.

But there are many here including myself that feel we should take a longer perspective. There shouldn't be a rush here.....YOU GUYS ARE THE ONES THAT NEED WHAT WE HAVE......RIGHT NOW.

OUR Rockets are the ones with the leverage, so stop this charade.

Building around Gasol.... you realize he is a soon to be 32 year old and 2 years are left....
I would call it more a short term 'patch up' rather a long term solution.

Depends, some guys are good into their mid 30s, look at Kevin Garnett. 35 and still balling better than anybody the Rockets currently have. If Gasol keeps playing well and we sign him to a reasonable extension then he could be nice to have around.

Sure you probably need one more really good player to go with Lowry + Gasol, but it gets easier the more guys you have because we become a more attractive destination :)

Agree with both of you guys it is somewhat of a short term fix, but adresses a huge need that we dont have. The puzzle will come together faster with a quality big man and we can compete with a two headed point guard monster( kenny smith, sam cassel) type.

I am not talking about him still ballin'.
Can he be a first or second best player on a competitive team by the age of 34, 35? Sure for the vet minimum or close to Midlevel exception.... why not.
Course not for 18.7 million. Making more than Lebron or Wade..... lol

16..... 9 throughout the season.... that is close to what Scola brough last year 18.3 and 9 ......
He brings shotblocking and length but from production stand of view.... he is now back at 17 and 10.5 ....it is marginal better than Scola's best season and surely not impressive as the no. 1 option.

Remember Zach Randolph last season 20.1 and 12.1 rbs.
All I am saying.... and Randolph is not even considered the best PF.

I like the idea of getting Gasol but not if it's the only deal we make. There has to be something else in the works for it to make more sense.

    Main thing I forgot.
He is not dominant in any category... he does a lot things well or allstarlevel well, allround game is good... but he aint dominant....

And a 32 I can conclude that most of his limited athleticism and speed is gone....

I dont' think anyone is saying they want Gasol to be the #1 option on our team forever, but fact of the matter is, he would be the best player on this roster.

Pau is sitting at at 21.05 PER.
    Scola 14.25
    Patterson 12.11

    Thats a pretty big difference.

So, just looking at pts/rebs is a pretty jaded approach.

Then who do you think would be our best player?
    Howard? Deron?
That is a more important thing to figure out who is Number one.

We didn't even win big with 2004 McGrady who was 2 years removed from a 30.6 PER season.
It is a small win for the GM. If we make the playoffs with him, it might be a small win.
The bigger question is whether we have a chance at Deron Williams and a superstar. That would a BIG WIN.

One thing is for sure. Those odds go up dramatically with Pau on the roster.
