Cardinal rule with successful franchises is that generally you DO NOT trade a blue chip player for one or more non blue chip players. In hindsight it has proven to be a failure most of the time. And that's what this deal would be for the Lakers if they took other pieces and parts and left Lowry behind. The only reason for considering that is if they are dumping salary and there are easier ways of doing that then moving Gasol for non star power received in return. Smart franchises don't make those kinds of deals. morey doesn't make those kids of deals for Houston.
This is a little off topic but recently I've started to wonder how other players around the league view Kyle Lowry. I love Lowry but some of his flopping and over the top acting can get kind of embarrassing to watch as a fan at times it makes me wonder if that rubs opposing players the wrong way as well. If we keep Lowry, he's suppose to be one of the selling points in terms of talent guys can come in and play with, but his antics could already be knocking some of those bridges down.
I just cant get excited about Gasol. He's 31! I don't really know who else to go for, but I don't think Gasol does that much to improve us. For sake if argument, I think scola could be a good fit on LAL.
If Kyle and Scola are traded for Charmin, we lost the trade completely. Scola, while not as talented as Pau, can put up CLOSE to the same numbers. Kyle holds this team together. Dragic isn't a starter.... Yuck. I don't want Pau, but if it was "required," Lowry shouldn't be involved. Forget it. We better at least get Ron Ron back. I didn't like the Pau trade in December and I don't like it now. Give me Kris Humphires over Pau...no more softies.
yea im not sure i like the lowry + scola for gasol either.. I would definitely do scola + martin though.. Oh well let's just see what Morey has up his sleeves.
Ron is washed up and would love to have anyone take Ron off their hands and for some other team to be stuck with his contract. Gasol, in the other hand, is much better than Scola. Look beyond he numbers and Gasol impacts the game in ways Scola dreams off. That being said, losing Lowry is a big blow. Scola is a replacement at the 4 for them, one that goes very well with Bynum. Lowry is the player they are after.
The Laker biggest advantage in the recent past is their ability to dominate with size. Scola is a below the rim player who can not replace Gasol's presence in the lane. That will hurt them defensively, Lowry or no Lowry.
Love the trade without Lowry, Gasol is a clear upgrade over Scola, and all the other parts are expendable. Th advantages of Gasol's length are hard to statistically quantify, but it would make a major impact But with Lowry in the deal, it sucks. Lowry for Gasol straight up I wouldn't do. No way Morey trades Lowry without finding a great replacement first, but other than D-Will I don't see available PG's near Kyles level. I'm not a Rondo fan in the slightest.
No he can't. Not even close. Is points per game the only thing people look at anymore? Scola is averaging 15ppg at sub 500% from the field(terrible for a 4) as the focal point of the offense in the post. Pau is averaging more points as the third option on the Lakers with a better efficiency. Scola is average 6 rebounds per game. 6. Technically Andrea Bargnani is a better rebounder this year. Pau Gasol is averaging 10.5 per game. Thats with Andrew Bynum in the same frontcourt. Pau Gasol is on of the most gifted passing big men in the league. Scola is a terrible passer. Hes become a black hole on offense. 1 assist a game? Just wow. Scola is a terrible defender. Whether you believe it or not, Pau Gasol is a plus defender. He has anchored the defense for championship teams. He is also 7 feet tall, something Scola clearly is not. So how exactly does scola come close to Pau's production? Why would you want Ron Artest? The guy has been worse than awful. Why would you want that kind of contract on the team Just terrible. If you want Ron, you could just ask the Lakers for him. I'm sure they would love to move him. Pau isn't soft. Thats a myth perpetuated by clutchfans. I guarantee anyone who has actually seen him play live would tell you otherwise. Seriously, how do think the Lakers had such great defensive teams in the playoffs and had won championships with only Pau Gasol in the middle?
I posted this trade scenario last night and yall said it was bad...its funny that its goin to happen and I called it....KISS THE RINGS B***H
