id be willing to do lowry + scola for gasol. easily. scola and martin are hardly hot properties on the trade market from grantland: 17. Pau Gasol This is weird, so bear with me. Somehow, Pau's trade value has become underrated. After the Lakers nearly flipped him for Chris Paul in December, the "they'd never trade Pau" seal was broken and Pau became fair game for any and every trade rumor. Just because they tried to swap him for one of the league's 10 best players — smartly, by the way — doesn't mean they stuck him on Craigslist for the rest of the season. He's still the most skilled offensive big man in basketball and he's only 31. You know you can win a title if he's your second-best player. You know he's one of the few elite guys who can coexist with Kobe. Why trade someone like that? And also, why do I keep giving the Lakers advice? The more I'm thinking about it, trade Pau and keep Bynum — he's made of solid oak!
I like Gasol, I just don't want his HUGE contract. He's a great Number 2 player on a team, I don't think he's our GO TO GUY. I also do not want to trade our entire team for him. I like Lowry, cause for his contract, he's CHEAP! I don't mind Martin and Scola being traded. I like them, but there's no future with them.
I guess it's natural for people to overvalue players on the Rockets, but it gets old. I like Lowry too, but I can think of at least 10 non elite players I would trade him for.
I do think Lowry is overvalued on this board and I'd trade him if it meant getting equal or greater PG in return. I'm hesitant to trade him for a PF though like Gasol or Josh Smith because the goal is to try and pair Lowry with those type of guys. Besides... you'll see how BIG of a loss Lowry is when you start Dragic full time and have Flynn as your primary back up.
if being dumb means we can get the second fiddle who carried a team to a championship , then i dont wanna be smart
No I get what you are saying. Let me rephrase: losing Lowry for Gasol kind of defeats the purpose, and I do think Lowry is a good point guard. But, he is just simply not as good as the point guards that others tend to liken him as. I like Lowry, but if we kept Dragic and got Gasol, I still believe we would be better than know.
I was going to say "the dumbest person on this forum" from past experience with W22, but I thought that was a little strong and might get me in trouble with Clutch, so I decided to cut it to just "you're dumb". Unfortunately I forgot to remove "the".
If the "asset" Pau Gasol is better than the assets given up, then what's the problem? You're not making sense. I think a frontline of Parsons, Gasol, and Dalembert, and not giving up Martin, is more than marginal improvement. You're talking about one of the best defensive teams in the league at that point, with plenty of offense as well. What you lose is either replaced by Gasol (Scola) or guys who weren't even playing to begin with. This is what it comes down to, I suspect.
Are you assuming that one deal is all the deal? IF KL7 is gone I would bet cash money another 1 is coming in a resultant deal.
If Pau is in his to Rockets in a trade not inclusive of Lowry and replaced with various loose ends, then Kupchak has been forced to compromise his trading objectives for a salary dump proposition involving expiring contracts and cheap bench fillers. That is a possible scenario. But not getting a blue chip player in return, Kobe will go ballistic over it!
