Pau had to carry Kobe, and Phil jackson was such a terrible coach. Pau is a stud for keeping them competitive.
Kobe? No, I am talking about after Yao, this team is essentially on the same pace as it always is, finish a few games over .500, and just out of the playoffs, a spinning of the wheels if you will. I am not saying Gasol sucks, just that it doesn't make the Rockets a contender, or closer to being a contender, sure it might solidify a lower playoff seed, but what is the point of that? Fool the fans some more? I will say one thing though, the Rockets clearly believe in Parsons by giving up Budinger and Morris, they are putting all their eggs in his basket. Honestly, for me as a Rockets fan for 40 years, I just don't trust this leadership in talent evaluation, nor in their ability to let the chemistry develop and become something greater. Sometimes you have to add a piece here and there instead of constant roster churn...... Just look at the turnover from year to year under Morey - it is a ton....where are the "Draft" and develop guys? They flip everyone - and usually for what appears to be an upgrade, but in reality they are just moving the peas around on the plate instead of eating them. DD
Stop being silly. It's not "superstar or worthless", there are plenty of shades in between. Gasol is a clear step up from anyone on the roster except maybe Lowry. Making the team better is worth doing.
I understand you are being sarcastic. However, keep in mind that outside of Bynum the Lakers had no other true center. They managed to maintain a top defense in the league, go deep in the playoffs annually, go to the finals and even win a chip with Gasol manning the middle. Gasol was part of some very physical teams and has proven to be able to anchor a finals quality defensive effort.
When you rob Peter to pay Paul you are making one part marginally better while weakening other parts about the same, thus - treading water. Overall - not better, IMO. DD
I assume you meant the 15th; and I was just chuckling about atomicanderz' loss of productivity, poor guy.

I disagree DD. Good to great starters are hard to find in this league. Good to great backups and roll players are a lot more abundant. If you can ship backups to drastically improve starters you do it.
