This is what kills me. The Rockets have had so much trouble getting a superstar and, even though they are different sports, all the Texans have to do is to ask. I really hope they consider it. It's a huge risk, yes, but Manning all but guarantee's some championships if he can still play at a high level.
Bringing a franchise player the caliber of Manning in here could potentially spur other great athletes to come to Houston *cough* DH and *cough cough* D-Will Moe
I understand what you're saying given the quality of the players. But I still think Manning's injuries make him a very significant risk going forward. I'm much more concerned about Manning's ability to come back from 4 neck surgeries than I am about Schaub's ability to recover from last season's injury.
Huge risk in way that if Manning turns out to not be able to play, we wouldn't have a QB on the roster that could take us to the SB. Texans w/ Manning: Lock for the SB Texans w/o Manning and Shaub: First round exit or no playoffs at all Texans w/ Shaub: Good chance to reach AFC champsionship game, but I do not believe Shaub has what it takes to win in pressure cooker situations
Joe Flacco and Alex Smith were a missed chip shot and Jacoby Jones-esque fumble from playing each other the Super Bowl. Matt Schaub is plenty good enough to win this loaded team a ring. (Again, I would certainly look into Manning. But a lot of his supporters aren't being fair when it comes to evaluating the Texans with Schaub.)
This is really Manning's first time to battle injury his entire career. Matt Schaub has missed 16 games in 5 years due to injury since being on the Texans; Peyton and has played for 14 seasons and has only missed 16 games total.

this doesn't take into account the significance of the kind of injury manning sustained...and the number of surgeries it's taken.
This is why I'm still undecided. (as if anyone who matters gives a frogs fat ass about my flea bitten opinion) I guess we as Texan fans are still getting used to the fact that we already have a Superbowl caliber team as-is. We've never been able to say that before in our history without being accused of being clinically insane. We're so used to having to make huge changes every offseason just to keep from SUCKING DEAD APES that we're just automatically resigned to screaming for it to happen. I agree, if he really is healthy, we would be stupid not to at least talk to the guy and see where his head's at. But it needs to be kept private. I'm just not sure if that possible in this new world of tweeter/internet/social media that we live in where keeping a secret like this is next to impossible.
My biggest concern is that the Texans have just now had their first taste of success. How long is our window? Manning is 5 years older than Schaub. Even if he's healthy, how many more years is he going to play? 3 years? 4? He'd be 39 at the start of the 2015 season, 40 in 2016. Is he going to be the next Farve and just keep playing? With no successor on roster, would we be narrowing our window by going with Manning? Would this hasten our return to mediocrity if we can't replace Manning when he does retire? Manning = better chance at a ring, shorter window Schaub = still good change at a ring, longer window Is it worth it?
It's always good to judge a player by one play in one game. We should have cut Chris Myers after Jenkins threw him aside in that game against the Jets 2 years ago.
Considering Andre's window gets smaller with every injury, I'd say yes. Get Manning and get this ring for Dre.
agreed. You can play the tit-for-tat game all day. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=281012034
seriously schaub better hope he wins the sb next year or at least gets to the sb. if he doesn't everyone will be saying, what if? or worse we play the broncos in the playoffs next year and manning knocks us (schaub) out of the playoffs and goes on to win the sb.
I am thinking the Lakers want to get as much for Gasol as they can before he starts to decline (I know some of you think he already has, but his numbers beg to differ).
