Trade deadline approaching next week and I wanted to throw my 2 cents in for my aftermath rockets!! Its three trades I would make and each falls in place (domino effect). First Trade: Detroit and Houston Detroit Send: Rodney Stuckey (8,000,000) + Tayshuan Prince (6,000,000) Rockets Send: Kevin Martin (11,000,000) + Johnny Flynn (3,000,000) Detroit does this trade cause they drafted B. Knight to be the next point guard of the Franchise and w/ same type players (Austin Daye & Jonas Jerebko) Tayshuan Prince becomes expendable Rockets does this trade to move Kevin Martin who is a score first kind of guy w/ little to no defense even though he shown improvements this year. Tayshuan would give Rockets a long body to guard either the 2 or 3. Rodney Stuckey being 6'5" can hold his on against pgs in the west and can drive to the basket with ease. Second Trade: Lakers and Rockets Lakers Send: Pau Gasol (18,000,000) + 2nd Round Pick Rockets Send: Kyle Lowry (5,000,000) + Luis Scola (8,000,000) + Hasheem Tahbeet (5,000,000) (Salary Match) Lakers does this trade to get the point guard they been stressin for and a Poward foward who does the same thing as Pau Gasol Rockets does this trade by getting Pau Gasol who has been Daryl Morey man crush since the beginning of the season and with Stuckey who is a better point guard than Lowry and is younger ( Lowry becomes expendable) Third Trade: Hornets and Rockets Hornets Send: Chris Kaman (14,000,000) Rockets Send: Jordan Hill / Terrence Williams (2,000,000) + Chase Budinger (850,000) Hornets does this to dump Kaman salary which in my opinion is dumb cause he is expiring but they want to get rid of him even asking for just a second round pick in return Rockets does this to solidify the bench with a scorer in the post when Gasol needs to take a breath. Rockets will look like this after the trade Deadline: PG: Stuckey & Dragic SG: Lee & Williams or Budinger (depend who you will trade) SF: Prince & Parsons PF: Gasol & Patterson C: Dalembert & Kaman/Hill (depend who you will trade) what do you guys think?? the team become more of a even team w/ defense and offense
Just saw it's your first post... There's a thread stickied at the top with everyone's trade ideas. Take a look in there.
1. My thing with type of trade is that by the trade deadline, the Rocket will only have 22 games left for any of these players to mesh and form some sort of familiarity with the Rockets system and each other. That is very difficult to do with very little practice time for this team during the shortened schedule. Essentially, it would hard pressed for a team undergoing that drastic a change to mesh together and make the playoffs and make some noise, especially this year. 2. Additionally, some of the players you are moving, Gasol & Prince, do not really want to move from their current team. So there is a risk of how that will affect their performance. 3. Stuckey is a good player, but I do not feel he is best suited as a PG. He really is more of a SG. He is a good scorer, but not as a good a playmaker as Lowry. 4. You also now have a team that has very little 3-pt shooting. With a good driver in Stuckey and Gasol as post threat, Lee & Dragic would be really the only ones being relied on to keep teams honest. Can they step into that role? How will spacing work out? Lastly, do try to make your posts in the appropriate place. Fresh input especially from true fans is very welcome, but following the protocol benefits everyone instead of trying to do this... Hi i want a Gasol trade, but i cant agree with you when you say that Stuckey is better than Lowry ... younger yes, but not better at this point ... and Stuckey seems to be a shoot first PG, not a passer, and with Gasol on board i'd like our offense to go trough him ... so i'll pass on your Detroit trade, i'd prefer to have Dragic running our offense than Stuckey
not lovin it... u evidently have a higher opinion of Stuckey than i do... and I dont understand why Detroit would give their starting pg and main facillitator to upgrade for a sg that just stands out at the arc.... not logical.... a big man in the post (Center or PF) and a distributor (PG) are the first two componets a team needs...
This. I'm sorry, but people overrate Lowry on this board. He is a good point guard, but Gasol is still easily a Top 10 Big Man in this league. When it all comes down to it, I would love to pair up Lowry with Gasol, but I am not going to complain if Lowry+Scola=Gasol. Gasol is a very good player even still. And we would still have Martin to trade for a point guard. Then... New Point Guard (expect it to be a point guard at least Lowry caliber for Martin) Lee Parsons Gasol Dalembert
First of all, another free T-Will and let's tank thread. Second, not about a man crush on Lowry. It's economics. You can't get equal value for him because point guards that put up all star numbers like him command nearly double his salary. Same with Scola. 15/8 in this league easily costs you $13M. We got it for 8. 22ppg costs you about $15M. We got it fir 12 in Martin. Case in point. Lowry (15.9ppg, 5.3rpg, 7.2apg, +19.58per, $5M/yr) vs Stuckey (15.5ppg, 2.9rpg, 3.8apg, 13.71per, $8M/yr). See what I'm saying? Any trade of Lowry would either be a downgrade and/or cost significantly more. Another case in point. Scola (15.1ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.6apg, 13.7per, $8M/yr) vs Gasol (16.8ppg, 10.5rpg, 3.3apg, 22.87per, $18M/yr). Yes Gasol is an upgrade, but at more than double the salary will he give you double the production? Especially once he starts splitting minutes with Patterson? To win in this league you have to get the most production with the least amount of money possible. Sometimes that may mean a max contract. But $18M for anyone, they better be able to carry a team. Gasol can't. I think your trade hurts the team, downgrades us at the point, takes away scoring, and handicaps us salary cap wise. You presented a thoughtful argument though. Random trades thread next time. People on here can get nasty when you post in the wrong place. Welcome anyway. Happy posting
You won't get a pg of Lowry's caliber because those guys are called all stars. They make more money than Kevin Martin. Teams won't part with them. See my above post. We have a STEAL in Lowry.
The mods can move the thread...I post in the section cause obviously it would've got lost in the shuffle....instead of saying no to the trade why dont yall say why you dont like the trade. Detroit will trade Stuckey and Prince cause they drafted players the past couple seasons...These are good trades...yall are the who wanted Nene Hilsorrio who only averaging 7 rebs dis year and got 65 mil...yall know basketball
It's not a horrible idea... The Stuckey/Prince part I dont see Detroit doing - if they would - cool, but I dont think they're ready to turn over the reigns just yet... I'm against getting Pau period... Dropping 18.7M+ a year (a third of our total cap) into a 31, 32 and then 33 year old Gasol, I believe is poison... were he 27 or his contract started at 12M - I'd love it - but he's not and it doesn't...if we had the horses to go deep in the playoffs and we were adding him to push us over the top for a champinship - sure - we're not... The Kamen part - sure, consolidation of assets... no prob... And just for the record... I NEVER wanted Nene - too old to be dropping that kinda change on him for a lengthy contract... Happy?
