It doesn't ask you directly. By default it's RPG style on Normal difficulty. But you can go into the options menu and change it.
Lost track of time about played for almost 10 1/2 hours yesterday. It's about time to fire the 360 back up again for round 2.
Fawk. I have two midterms tomorrow. I just want to get through that **** so I can play for 10 hours straight
Couldn't believe my luck today! Walk into one of the game shop and lucky enough they have 1 copy left of the Collector's Edition available!!
Damn now I'm itching to play. But I'm holding out for a bit later when others are way ahead. That way if I'm stuck, I can just go here and ask. Who are your companions? So far I've read Thane isn't one... and I hear you get a Prothean warrior to join.
Regarding past and current squadmates. Spoiler You meet Thane in the hospital on the Citadel. He's terminally ill (I think this was addressed in ME2). He should be dead already. Anyway, he won't join. You also meet Dr. Chakwas there and she'll join the Normandy if you ask. The Prothean is from the first day DLC "From Ashes". He brings a gun with him that you can use that's pretty cool. Other past squadmates I've come across so far: Liara, Miranda (won't join, at least not yet), Garrus, Wrex, Kaiden/Ashley (for a bit), Jack (doesn't join), Mordin. I'm pretty sure Tali joins too but I haven't gotten there yet. Joker's the pilot of course. Some interesting things happen with EDI, I would spoil it, even in a spoiler. The engineer from ME1 is back and you have some new human squadmates too.
Spoiler I saw from previews in youtube that EDI becomes a squad mate. Looks kind of cheesy, as she has no real combat training. Would probably be useless and die a lot like Mordin in ME2. What happens to Grunt, is he replaced by Wrex? Also heard that Zaeed becomes a bad guy if you (attempt to) kill him in ME2. What happens to Kasumi? She was my favorite companion. Really badass with that ninja disappearing kill thing. Helped me a lot with distant foes. I hope she becomes more than just a DLC and I could romance the **** outta her.
Don't worry jontro she shows up on the Citadel, and helps out with a pretty awesome mission. At least, one of the lines at the culmination is hilarious. If you have the points, I recommend picking up the DLC. The teammate is handy, you get an awesome weapon, and his interactions with others are really funny.
Spoiler I just did a mission with Grunt. He wasn't in my squad, he was leading his own team and we got separated. So far, neither he nor Wrix have been squadmates. I honestly don't remember anything about Zaeed from ME2 and I didn't do any DLC so I never had any interactions with Kasumi. I'm aware of the characters but haven't run into either yet.
Ok, it's official... I'm in love with this game. I got so used to playing ME2 on the easiest level for my speed run-through that I came into this one guns blazing. It got me frustrated for a while. But now I find myself using my squad members a lot more. Moving them into better positions. Combo-ing powers together to try to make even more powerful ones. The combat just might be perfect.
Got about another 8 hours in tonight. I've been hitting a lot of the side missions first because I heard that some expire. But I've still almost got the minimum amount of war assets needed to fight the Reapers, even at 50% galactic readiness (not sure how to raise that yet).
Galactic Readiness pertains to the Multiplayer portion of ME3. The only way to increase it is to actually play multiplayer. I haven't played MP yet, but I hear it increases fairly quickly and only drops 1% every day that you don't play MP... and it never drops below 50%. War Assets pertain to the army you have built up in single player mode. Effective Military Strength is the variable that determines the outcome of Mass Effect 3. You can complete the game and get the "best possible ending" without ever playing Multiplayer, you just have to really build up your War Assets.
Daaaaamn man already?? Did you do the side assignments? Maybe that's it was a bit confusing. Spoiler I heard in this last installment, it is almost impossible to have everyone survive in the end. Like there are points where you have to choice between characters like Ashley vs Kaiden. Also heard Jack is a real badass. Also did your Shepard die? I heard it's quite difficult to have him live I'm still finishing up my characters in ME2.. but will download ME3 soon hopefully.
FYI, I found a way to transfer xbox 360 saves to the pc. It's fairly involved, but this site has the instructions: http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-how-to-transfer-your-me-2-save-from-xbox-360-to-pc/
For some reason my ME2 character won't appear in ME3. I can't load him. I tried to put the files in manually into the save folder....no good.
Was the save on the hard drive or in the cloud? I've heard that save files in the cloud won't work with ME3 on 360. Or are you on PC?
