Well that was a quick trade. Posted a request here, and Expos take the opportunity in minutes. Welcome to your first trade, CometsWin.
LongTimeFan took over the team last year and immediately made a few trades, sending away draft picks to improve his keepers. Those moves were actually pretty decent, if I remember. The 3-for-1 trade was made mid-season last year, and there was a bit of a stink raised at the time because it seemed one-sided. However, in the end the majority of the league was okay with it, so I let it slide. The argument was that Bautista was especially valuable because of his 3B eligibility (which he will retain this season because he played at least 15 games at third last year). I still think it was pretty one-sided, but we have all played together for a long time and knew that there was no collusion involved. Anyone can make a bad trade from time to time.

Smeg takes position #8. So, the final draft order is as follows: 1. Sucka Free v2.0 2. Jent's Llamas 3. Rook 4. CometsWin 5. The Aliens 6. PhiSlammaJamma 7. Expos Forever 8. SmegCity Smarmy Gits blue = paid red = unpaid The draft will start the morning of March 10th (Saturday) and the initial timer will be set at 8 hours per pick. You have until midnight of March 9th to finalize your keepers. If they are not declared by then, I will pick them for you.
Just to get the ball rolling, I will declare my keepers now: Keeper numbers for each player roll over as soon as the draft starts. Therefore, the number of times a player has been kept must be lower than the listed max number for each slot. Expos Forever Slot A (indefinite): Troy Tulowitzki-3 Slot B (4 max): David Wright-3 Slot C (4 max): Joey Votto-1 Slot D (3 max): Josh Hamilton-1 Slot E (3 max): Andrew McCutcheon-0 Slot F (2 max): Prince Fielder-0 Slot G (2 max): Matt Kemp-0
Hey all... I just checked and it seems it only took us ten days to complete the draft last year. The first game of this season starts on March 28th, so now I am thinking that I might have budgeted too much time for the draft, and am considering pushing back the start date to the 15th instead. That would take away some of the spring training injury risk and give people an extra few days to make any pre-draft trades. What do you think? Maintain the original March 10th start date, or push it back to March 15th? Does anyone feel strongly either way?
Either way is fine with me, though I'm ready to get this thing started.......... I should have my keepers set soon, still going back and forth with the last spot or two...........hate this part!
The later the better for me...as with every year at this time, I'll be incredibly busy with SXSW. I'd be a fan of moving it back to the next weekend (17th or 18th) if that was an option!
I'd love to have it on the 15th instead of the 10th, I have my son's birthday party this weekend and that would be one less thing to stress about.
Looks like we'll push the draft back to next Thursday morning (March 15th). I don't want to go any later than that and risk not being finished by opening day. New keeper declaration deadline is midnight of Wednesday, March 14th, but please declare early if possible. jent -- you have an early pick, so it should be no trouble to come up with a short list or two for the couple of days you'll be busy.
Keepers: Slot A (indefinite): Clayton Kershaw - 3 Slot B (4 max): Tim Lincecum -3 Slot C (4 max): David Price - 0 Slot D (3 max): Michael Pineda - 0 Slot E (3 max): Daniel Hudson -1 Slot F (2 max): Chase Utley -1 Slot G (2 max): Stephen Strasburg - 0
I think next time you need to look at possibly using one of those keeper spots on a pitcher...........
I agree. Utley looks so out of place on that list. 1. Sucka Free v2.0 2. Jent's Llamas 3. Rook 4. CometsWin 5. The Aliens 6. PhiSlammaJamma 7. Expos Forever 8. SmegCity Smarmy Gits blue = paid red = unpaid
Go to page 1 of this thread and Fade lists everyone and their keepers, along with time for each, about half way down the page.
