They might as well reserve the 14th pick in the draft for the Rockets for the next couple of seasons.
The Dalembert signing was a charade and you know it is. Pressure was on Morey from his new coach and Im under the impression he said "sure but ill only get one if the Center that I sign is a tradeable asset." Dalembert is definitely a trade asset, and someone that can help develop Patterson, Hill, Morris by allowing them to slide over to their natural position at the 4, and 3 for Morris. Making them play center would put them in a position to underdevelop other parts of their game. Dalembert seems to be the only answer the pro-tankers throw out there that you can argue, and Id say it was a charade, and a crappy welcome fruit basket for McHale in his first year as head coach. Starting Thabeet would have made the Rockets the laughing stock of the league, and no team in the league would have gone that route. A rebuilding team spends their efforts and playing time on players that they truely want to develop. My point is, this team shouldn't be this good to begin with. They will never be bad enough to compete with pathetic franchises like the Bobcats, and Wizards. Business just runs too smooth to compete with that crap. So your better option is to just keep on developing the young talent you have and keep taking gambles until you can make a mega trade. Thats the only real option you have.
They are one or two moves away from being pretty damn good. With the cap flexibility they have and young talent coming in, this is no time to start dribbling the ball off their big toe's. They were in the game and should have won against the Clippers and Boston, but got beat straight up by Toronto and Denver. Before the All-Star break they were a team that nobody in the West wanted to see in the first round... Now, they should blow it up after basically playing 3 bad games out of 5. Give me a break.
And when they end up as the # 9 seed for the third year in a row what will you say then? "Well it was a good battlefightin effort out there this season guys, we'll get them next decade?" Cap flexibility does you no good WHEN NO ONE WANTS TO SIGN HERE. Teams build championships with drafted stars as the core. PERIOD.
I say wait till the 15th and see what happens. IF the team does not make any moves then so be it with the tanking but IF the team makes the moves to improve the team for the long haul then lets roll into the playoffs and get some much needed experience.
That statement is false. Memphis used their cap flexibility to bring in Zach Randolph (good player, unwanted max contract due to attitude) via trade to solidify their core. A ton of cap is a good situation to be in for a re-building team. There is so much you can do with it.
not sure how long you've been watching the Rockets, but our own franchise history suggests you're wrong. as does the Spurs history.
That was like 4 days ago or something? lol. So much can change from now until the 15th and it better happen. If not we can officially lock up the 12-14th pick in the draft and call it a year. If we can get some players that actually want to play hard every single minute they are in the game, we can look forward to the playoffs. I wish people would stop saying we are a guarantee 1st round exit if we make the playoffs. Who would have though Memphis would have beat SA last year like they did? Playoffs are like starting fresh.
Pretty much. I thought we were going to finally see the 09 crew get consistent minutes. I like dalembert, 3 yrs ago, but not today on this team. Its not like theyre tied long term to him so what the point? As i said before, i wouldve traded scola for a tpe.never signed dally and see if there is anything in that body of thabeet.
