This is your sign. Don't marry her. Marry a cool chic, not an uptight one who forces you to agree with her. You're going to be miserable.
Good point. Kate Upton is what, 19? On the cover of Sports Illustrated? Nekkid with body paint on the pages inside of it? Let's go to the Kate Upton thread(s) and figure out how many people have been decrying themselves for ----ing it to an 18-19 year old. 18+ is 18+.
and he was manipulating her before she turned 18. so he quit his job, stopped being a teacher, and wiped his hands clean of his wrongdoings? and you guys say good for him?
A predator? That seems harsh and over the top. Most the time a 40 year old and 18 year old wont make it, but it does last sometimes... They have a relationship at this point, just leave them be...
No; I'm responding to what's idea to retroactively make 18-20 year-olds children, capable of voting and gettng their heads blown off in Afghanistan, but too immature for the sexytime. I don't know what happened to this student before she turned 18; I'm going solely on the article. It is creepy, it is an abuse of power; but based on what is known, it's not illegal. However, I do know at least one Super Tuesday candidate who approves of such relationships: (Seriously, his first wife was his high school geometry teacher.)
Could be. Could be. I, however, bet it happened exactly as in Lionel Richie's "Hello" music video. 41 year old teacher = Lionel Richie, full of Cosby sweater self-confidence 18 year old student = blind girl with a surprising knowledge of NYC architectural history/proper Jheri curl texturing <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b_ILDFp5DGA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Except, the 18 year old girl in question wasn't blind in real life, so she could probably figure out when the Richie substitute was pervin' on her in class, from three feet away.
Even if it doesn't work out, at least she has some guidance during her first years as an adult. That's a very vulnerable time for young women. When they have more freedom than common sense. No tattoos for you young lady!
She looks hot to you because you have absolute proof that she has Daddy issues and probably self-esteem issues as well, and would very likely do freaky things in bed.
what about this story is hard to comprehend? he was courting her when she was a freshman. he sent her texts and emails during this time-hundreds of them- all before she was 18, behind her mother's back. a teacher who does that is a predator. I am a mandated reporter and I work with teenage students. his methods are predatory and rely on gaining the trust of an immature youth.
Sheeesh.. some of you guys.. The things you say, if you really actually believe them enough to act on them.. Well, people saying things like that is the reason we have, in this country, a little thing we like to call: Due Process Because obviously you don't know the actual meaning of the word 'obviously'. Because it is no obvious at all. You and several other people in here are letting your personal opinion and suppositions and prejudices get in the way of understanding that facts matter, not just how something makes you 'feel'. IF the facts of this 'case' (IS it even a case? Unless the law enforcement officials have some legitimate reason to believe a crime has taken place, there is not even a 'case', and as far as I know, no charges have been filed - the mother doesn't like it, but so what? Unless there is no evidence of a crime, then there is nothing to see here) are such that there is clear evidence that this man has done what you all ASSUME he has done, then yes, throw the book at him. But the fact is, you don't know, so you can't say things like 'obviously such-and-such happened here'. This all reminds me of 2002, when Darryl Kile died. Remember that? Found dead in his hotel room? And immediately reports came out that 'traces of mar1juana were found in the ashtray' in Kile's hotel room. So then, everyone assumes he died from being some kind of drug user. All because some ashtray contained traces of weed - as though the forensic geniuses who clean hotel rooms can somehow magically return every item in a hotel room to new condition after every guest. I actually had to yell at Lance Z and Granato on the air about it, because Granato especially was going on and on, joking about Kile having been smoking weed. Which they didn't KNOW, they just ASSUMED. And you know what? He died of a heart condition, two blocked arteries in his heart. Not weed. And did these dimwits in the media who had been carelessly throwing around assumptions and accusations ever go on record as saying they were sorry for besmirching Kile's name? No, not that I ever heard of. So, stop with all of the making assumptions and talking as if you KNOW something here you absolutely do NOT know. Until some actual evidence comes to light, then just accept it for what they say it is, especially if neither one of them (who are both adults by the way) feel they have been somehow wronged by the other. If they are happy, let them be happy.
Is there anything more unpredictable and flaky than the whims of a teenage girl? And to change your whole life for that?
Predator or not, he ditched his family for this 18 year old, so he's a dick regardless as far as I'm concerned.
Shocking! http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2...dent-arrested-on-1998-molestation-charge?lite Ex-California teacher who moved in with student arrested on 1998 molestation charge Christopher James Hooker, the Modesto, Calif., ex-teacher whose romance with a student drew attention from around the world, was arrested Friday after being charged with one count of oral copulation with a minor in an incident that police said happened 14 years ago, the Modesto Bee reported. The charge stems from a relationship Hooker is accused of having in 1998 with a 17-year-old student at Davis High School in Modesto, where he was teaching at the time, the newspaper said. Hooker was arrested at his home and booked into Stanislaus County Jail, police said. Advertise | AdChoices Hooker entered a not guilty plea in Stanislaus County Superior Court, where a judge set his bail at $50,000 and assigned him a public defender, the Bee reported. A bail reduction hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Police were already investigating whether there was a criminal case against Hooker, 41, who resigned his job to move into an apartment with an 18-year-old girl he met while teaching in Modesto. During the investigation of that case, police said, it was alleged that in 1998 Hooker befriended the 17-year-old student, developed a romantic relationship with her and sexually assaulted her. After his recent relationship with the 18-year-old came to light, Hooker was placed on administrative leave Feb. 3 by Modesto City Schools and resigned less than three weeks later, according to a report at the Modesto Bee. Hooker had taught business and computer classes. He left his wife and children to move in with Jordan Powers, an Enochs High School senior whom he met when she was a freshman at the school. One of Hooker's children attends the same high school. "In making our choice, we've hurt a lot of people," Hooker told the Bee in March. "We keep asking ourselves, 'Do we make everyone else happy or do we follow our hearts?' " Tammie Powers, the student’s mother, told the Bee she believes Hooker pursued her daughter, and she cited recent problems with her daughter’s grades and health. Her daughter had panic attacks, Powers said. "I believe it was the stress of the lie," Tammie Powers told the newspaper. After Hooker moved in with Powers, California Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, crafted legislation to strip teachers of retirement benefits if they have romantic relationships with students. "My point is, whether you're 18, 17 or 14, the fact remains that a teacher is in a position of authority and influence over that student, and therefore, it is highly inappropriate," Olsen said.
