Question: How do you convince Howard to sign an extension in Houston? My best shot at answering it: +HOU sends NYK 1st round, rights to Donatas Motiejunas, and rights to Sergio Llull wherever needed to sweeten the deal (probably at least one of the above to ORL) Haha. No way anything close to this radical happens, but it's fun to mess around with scenarios.
Monta Ellis. End of story. We need clutiness and have 2 guards to give up and package and get something in return.
Only reason I would want Monta would be to pair with Howard. And he is best paired with a non-playmaking guard who hovers on the perimeter to hit open threes--he would be very bad playing alongside Kyle.
Martin fits better alongside Lowry. And the thing people always criticize Martin about, his defense? Monta is just as bad defensively, if not worse.
Bledsoe has potential to be our starting PG in the future. Gives us enough cap room to pursue any/all FAs in the offseason (Eric Gordon, Wilson Chandler most likely targets). Not great value for a Scola, Martin package but at least it gets their contracts off the books moving forward. Boston is the sticking point in this trade (obviously). What picks do you think it would take to convince them? Any way to do this trade without including some of our picks? Maybe Lakers parts with Dallas' 1st (Odom trade)? Probably still not enough.
Looking at the Ric Bucher/Pau Gasol thread, and I saw megastahr tweeted the Timberwolves reporter about trading for Kevin Martin. I tried my hand at trading with the T'wolves for Pekovic, while giving them some depth, and I really think the T'wolves win big in this trade scenario. Should I tweet it to the guy as well? Spoiler The Rockets get their big guy who could be an absolute beast in the near future (if not already), as well as an expiring contract in Anthony Randolph. Many people on here really hoped we could trade for Randolph in the past, so I'm sure fans would welcome him here now, not to mention his expiring deal. The Kings just signed the Chuckwagon, but I'm not sure it's working. I'll be the 1st one to tell you that I haven't seen them play a whole lot, but looking at Chuck's numbers, it doesn't look like he's playing to his potential there. They lose Chuck, but gain a really nice expiring SF and another perimeter player with high potential. The Timberwolves lose a really nice center, a couple of expiring contracts, and Wes Johnson, who is looking like a bust so far. In return, they get the perfect players for Adelman's system. I'm sure Adelman would love to have Kevin, Chase, and Chuck on his team paired up with Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. Not sure anyone says no to this deal. The Kings might wanna hold on to Chuck for at least a whole season, but they're getting young guys with loads of potential on cheap contracts in return.
Minnesota is enamored with Pek. They are making a run for the 8th seed. A quality C is the hardest thing to find in the league. All of these are reasons why that trade won't happen. Pekovic will not be traded.
HOU recieves : Pau Gasol Indiana Recieves : Kevin Martin , Metta World Peace LaL recieves : Darren Collison , Luis Scola , Channing Frye Phoenix Recieves : Danny Granger , Marcus Morris , Johnny Flynn , George Hill Picks Can be added wherever Houston Recieves Gasol which is what they want without giving up lowry which is basically a win Indiana Become a Legit top 3 team in the east this season and could be championship contenders with this move and they get to move paul george to his real position at small forward and let him grow , nash - martin - george - west - hibbert is pretty scary could beat the bulls dunno about miami Phoenix gets something for nash who is leaving they get to reunite the morris brothers and build around them and danny granger they will get Aaron brooks back soon , so george hill and flynn can fill in , also they shed frye's disgusting contract add some picks here Lal gets what they want a pg + scola plus a very servicable rotation forward in frye and maybe the rockets 1st rounder what do u guys think i like it all around
My god. This is absolute worst trade I've seen! Trade lowry, Scola, Martin, and Dalembert for Gasol, Eric Bledsoe, and scrubs!? And wilson chandler and Eric gordon are rfas, so our shot at getting them is lower that you think unless we stupidly throw near max money for both (for eric gordon, that still may not be enough because the hornets can match). Our small percentage of getting major ufas to come to houston would be zero if this trade went down!
^ Not neeeear enough for Lakers (even though they are clearing Artest's contract). Pacers probably won't be willing to take Artest's contract just to rent Nash for the rest of the season (unlikely to sign there in the offseason).
well collison has this yr and then next they are gonna have to pay him alot and hes nt worth it why not take a chance on nash seriously that man can make indiana title contenders i think that team can beat anyone not called miami
Yes.. lets trade garbage and acquire every teams best player in the deal. I'm sure everyone else will totally go for that deal. LOL!
You do realize this is the exact same plan Dallas has for rebuilding this summer... except replace Nowitzki with Gasol (plus we have the potential of Bledsoe and, hopefully, two decent 1st round picks this year). The problem of course is that Scola and Martin are infinitely more valuable on our roster then they are as tradeable assets. The question is whether you would rather hold on to them and deal with more infuriating seasons such as the current one, or try to make the most of what little value they have and head in a new direction. Morey's whole mantra has been to compile assets to acquire star players... and while we can definitively say that Martin and Scola are nowhere near stars... Gasol just might be (and is far and away the best thing we could hope to get out of a package including them) I'm not saying this is great value, but I think it provides an interesting opportunity for the Rockets moving foward as opposed to the no man's land we are caught in. I think if you look at this trade as not as what you are giving up, but rather the opportunity it provides moving forward you would not be so outraged. I also understand that Chandler and Gordon are RFAs. Gordon is most likely to be fought over by Indiana and New Orleans, but there isn't really a landing spot for Chandler. If there's one thing you cannot accuse Morey of is overpaying a player. (Ilyasova was brought up in another thread, which would be an interesting piece.) Lowry is the only valuable asset I see leaving in this trade, and currently in the NBA there is a glut in PGs which inherently makes them an easier commodity to obtain. Lowry MAY be the 7th best PG in the league (Paul, Rose, Williams, Westbrook, Rondo, and Parker)... but is he really leaps and bounds better than Wall, Irving, Jennings, Ty Lawson, or Steph Curry (if he could ever stay on the floor)? I know it sounds like I am gung-ho about acquiring Bledsoe as someone with star potential (I am not, I have no idea how he may or may not pan out). If the Rocket's brass is high on the potential of Bledsoe, then they should do this in a heartbeat (they are smarter than the both of us). Just remember, Morey has a pretty good track record of picking up PGs wasting their talents on the bench (Lowry, Dragic).
Yes the Pacers would be contenders this year, but moving forward (without Nash, with MWP albatross contract) they would be screwed. They've been rebuilding for five years, I don't think they want to blow all of that hard work for ONE very slim chance at a title. Nor does this solve the problem that the Lakers would never do that trade.
Yeah, Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Sam Dalembert, Patrick Patterson, the rights to Donatas Motiejunas, and a mid-first round pick are "garbage" I swear to God, some fans on this forum severely underrate the value of our assets. I don't think a deal like that gets done, but it's not because our players are crap.
Also, Monta is not the Warriors' best player, Curry is. And Boozer is not even close to the Bulls' best player
