It would be like us giving half of Yaos points in the post and half when his in on the perimeter with a man that closes in on him...how effective would yao be then? Hed prob drop in points and have the highest turnover ration in NBA history.

tweeting the beat writer for minnesota...from what I can tell is they would be willing to give up beasley and draft picks for martin... but not willing to trade derrik williams.

I wonder if we gave morris they would change there mind. Either that or we would have to make it a 3 team trade.

I wouldnt mind giving them Scola/Dragic/ PATTERSON and Flyn. 2 point guards and 2 good power forwards, and we get to keep Lowry.

Doesn't New Orleans own Minny's draft pick this year? I wonder what pick they'd be willing to give up.

Then we'd have to take Beasley and some sort of contract to match salaries, maybe Martell Webster. According to shamsports, only $800k of Webster's salary is guaranteed for next year (he would have to be cut by July, I think). That'd be nice to have.

Minnesota has no first rounder for a couple years. Their 2012 1st rounder goes to the Hornets from the Clippers trade (again, I think).

Not that I want Beasley, but if he can be swung to LA or Boston (other teams with interest) for what WE want, then sure. Definite maybe.

I'm sure somehow some way the lakers would try and do a

    lakers/magic trade involving pau/howard
    lakers/nets trade involving bryant/d.wiill

other players would be involved of course but that's the bulk of it.

I wouldn’t give Martin to them for Beas and a couple crappy picks. I’m guessing that 2012 Utah pick/2013 Memphis pick are on the table, but those aren’t all that great. Both lottery protected.

I don’t think us losing Martin will make us all that much worse, but Rick Adelman gaining Martin is going to make them a lot better and put them ahead of us in the playoff race for sure.

@megastahr Definitely not DWill, and doubt very much Pek either because they have few other options at center if they do that...

I think some sportswriter put this out in the ether.

I'm sure the Lakers are looking at those last 2/3 years of Bryant's contract and thinking, Ugh; but where would you possibly send him? And why?

With him, they're competitive, always on national TV, etc.

    Nah; this is sportscaster conjecture.

He was like that even with Phil Jackson, there were countless times Phil would single out Pau during a timeout because he's not asserting himself. It's always been the knock on him, why would the Lakers be willing to give him up otherwise. Now that Bynum has basically become what they wanted Pau to be all along, he's expendable.

He'll average 20ppg for the rockets, but that doesn't get us the chip unless we have someone more aggressive and talented beside him. What makes you think he's going to have an easier time scoring here, if he had a hard time getting his shots with Kobe & Bynum.

McHale may know how to use big men, but he certainly does not have the experience yet to get Pau easier touches, if he did Scola wouldn't be getting crowded on his post-ups.

they werent willing to give him up last year...it was actually a major shock when everyone found out he was on the market...the reason why is lakers ownership knew Pau wasnt going to be as effective under the new coach and was trying to trade him before his value dropped as a result........
