It's funny how so many people always say that Pau is declining. For the millionth time, show some evidence. Show us that Pau is declining. You can't. It's just an excuse because of the mancrush this board has for Lowry.

Hanna may be speculating but Bucher sounded clear when he says they (THE LAKERS) have the opportunity to move Pau Gasol for Kyle Lowry and Scola. It does not sound like he is speculating. It sounds like he knows that to be true. Whether or not the Lakers will pull the plug he is uncertain. He also adds that Gasol is "a little more open" to moving to Houston. And Hanna finishes up by interpreting his words and saying that is a likely deal and Bucher responds by saying "right". I have to believe was scripted so he knew what she was going to say and he was ready for his response.

So to me that is the big story that Morey is actually offering Lowry in the deal. Now whether you think he is full of @$#t is a whole different thing. But IMO his words sound pretty clear that he knows that to be true.

He later begins to speculate on a Kobe trade but he makes it clear he is speculating. He never makes it clear he is speculating about Lowry and Scola being on the table for Gasol, again he sounds like he knows they are.

    Gallinari
    Gasol

The Lakers don't require a third team be involved in a trade involving Gasol for Lowry. Unless somehow the presence of a third team enhances the deal for everyone involved including the Lakers, then it isn't a prudent thing to do.

I don't get all the love for Lowry either. The guy is a good player. He's a bulldog. But we've all seen how he gets torched by some other good point guards. He is tradeable.

Because Mike Brown is coach and he lets Kobe shoot all game and his bigs are relegated to putbacks.

Also, once you know your team doesn't want you, you're bound to get distracted/disheartened.

Pau on this team would get 18 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, maybe a block or two. And his basketball IQ is high.

Maybe not the best defender in the world, but Scola is almost the worst, so...

Or the Lakers are using false Rocket info to get the team who is really after him to up their offer. I will be surprised if the Pau in on the Lakers after the 15th. I will also be surprised if he's on the Rockets.

Want me to save the suspense? Lowry certainly will not be moved for Pau Gasol.

Daryl Morey would laugh Kupcake out of the room with that garbage.

This is just more ESPN, pro Laker garbage...

but i seriously don't think an objective observer would say that this is anything but a fair deal. Gasol is a very rare asset. He's a legit 7 footer that plays defense, can play inside, and can shoot from the outside. He's also an excellent rebounder. I agree that he may be on the decline of his career, but i don't think Lowry's even a top 10 PG. As good as Scola is offensively, his contract basically prevents him from being considered a nice asset. So on its face, Rockets are really not overpaying. In fact, I agree with the poster who said that LA might want more.

No one can prove or disprove it, but you can't deny the fact the he is 31 years old and getting older. He's not Dirk, his game needs some athleticism to be effective. The whole point of bringing him here was to pair him up with Lowry who can setup him up, pick and roll and make teams pay with the outside shot.

You trade away Lowry, and now you need another point guard or a point-forward to setup Gasol. Dragic is not a true PG, not to mention he has a shaky outside shot.

Lowry is not a top-flight point guard yet, but you combine his current talent, the fire he plays with, and his bargain of a contract, why would you want to trade him?

Then the conversation would have been dead long ago and would not keep coming back up onto the table for further consideration.

The truth is that Morey has been after Gasol since Xmas and he had him nailed down as we all know. Morey appears to have remained steadfast in his belief that Gasol is the best option for Houston despite the fact that the price tag has gone up.

It is not Kupchak forcing this trade dialog forward with Morey. It is clearly the other way around with obvious mutual interest.

But of the two of them, I think it's fairly clear that it's Kupchak who's more willing to walk away from these discussions than it is Morey.

Remember that Lowry was not Kupchak's first choice in a trade. Gasol has always remained Morey's first choice.

Lol, so this is the evidence? 2 points per game difference. Pau is one of the most consistent players in the league, with Bynum getting more touches and Kobe taking tons of shots himself, Pau's numbers should be lower than that, but they're not.
