If Mario wanted a deal done, it would have been done. But he's stated that he's "leaving everything up to his agent".....code for "I'm going for the best deal I can get on the market, but don't get mad at me - blame him" Kudos to Arian and his agent working out a deal ahead of free agency. Next up is Myers. If Mario wants to stay, he can have his agent work out a cap-friendly deal while there's time. I won't hold anything against him if he wants to play the market, but there's no way the Texans are matching a frontloaded megadeal. If there's a bidding war, we're out. In about 9 days, there's going to be a bidding war.
Good deal for the Texans when compared to D. Williams/CJ/AP. ESPN reported it was $18M in base salary for next year, but obviously that must be wrong.
Didn't johnson give some some $ too to stay with Texans? Texans fans should be thankful for Johnson and Foster for not asking a lot of money
Andre Johnson is the definition of class. We should consider ourselves lucky as fans that we have not only the best receiver in the game, but also a genuinely good guy. That's why our failures year after year were so hard to take, but not anymore:grin:

They front loaded it due to the what they are going to have to do the following seasons to keep Duane Brown and Schaub. This basically means Mario is gone.
Definitely the right move. Mario is likely gone, but if he stays it will be for "reasonable" money. Foster earned it.
Can't wait to see him tear it up on the field this season! Ripping and tearing! Ripping and tearing! <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4zz6wQsvbXc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I have heard mutliple reports that are saying front loaded for $18MM. as a previous poster stated, its to position themselves for the contracts of Brown, Schaub and Cushing
I saw it on Lance Zielein's twitter, he said he got it from an NFL team. The 18 million is if you combine is base 6 million with the entire bonus of 12 million, but the bonus is prorated over 5 years so it's 6 million plus 2.5 million.
we's gots conflicting infos! http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...-new-contract-star-rb-arian-foster-agent-says I am digging around Chron now for additional confirmation. Either way, we know they still have to be restructing deals behind the scenes to create more cap space.
http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/03/texans-reach-contract-agreement-with-arian-foster/ Pancakes see's it differently.... considering the source...I don't know what to believe. to be honest the first place I heard the $18MM base was from Matt Thomas last night (sitting in for Charlie).
Glad they got it done...He is much more valuable to the Texans than MW... Now, is it me or is Mario W just playing around, because if he wanted to be here he would...He's a good player, not great and i belive he'll go somewhere else and be overpaid...not worth big $$ that he's wanting
