Then we turn and trade Scola, Thabeet, Budinger, and Hill for Nene, Faried, and J. Hamilton, or for Nene plus their trade exception of 7m. time to shake it up. this Rockets team is bogus. i love alot of the players, but they won't make playoff noise... the current roster needs overhaul.
then we go for Paul George and Jeff Foster with Courtney Lee and Chandler Parsons and Flynn. This gives us a solid team. PG -- Lowry/Dragic SG -- Ellis, George, Hamilton SF -- TWill, Morris PF -- Faried, Patterson C -- Nene, Dalembert, Foster Lots of combinations w/this lineup to go big or go small.
no they don't!! after this season: Martin's contract ends 2012-13 at 12.4mil Ellis' contract ends 2013-14 at 11mil per yer But to get a quality SG I wouldn't mind facilitating a Howard trade to NJ if we sent out both Scola and Martin, with Marshon Brooks and expiring's coming to Houston. Resign Lee to a contract similar to Lowry's. With Brooks playing a 6th man role like Harden in OKC. Houston get: Okur, Humphries, Brooks New Jersey get: Howard, Scola Orlando get: Martin, Morris, Lopez, 2 1st rd picks via NJ Then Kaman for Thabeet, Hill, Williams, and MIN 2nd rd pick We basically send out Scola and Martin for expirings and swap Morris for Brooks of the 2011 draft picks. Like I stated re-sign Lee and with the other 6 expiring contracts fill the voids through the draft and free agency. Lowry, Dragic, Flynn Lee, Brooks Parsons, Budinger Patterson, Humphries, Smith Dalembert, Kaman, Okur
seeing as we may not get a pick this year (by making the playoffs) i'm ok with clearing out martin, scola, and the 09ers for draft picks in a deep draft. the more albatross contracts we're willing to take on, the higher the pick we can receive. Build around Lowry, Lee, Morris, Patterson, Llull, and Montiejunas. it may take us out of the free agent debacle at the end of the season, but as i have zero faith in us landing a big name, it's no loss for me.
I like that idea, and I think we should reshape our rosters through draft like OKC. I wonder how many and what kind of draft picks we are able to acquire with Martin, Scola and 09ers. I am thinking 2-3 of 7-20picks should be fair.. hopefully
Doubtful. Who would trade a top 10 draft pick for Kevin Martin/ Scola/ Lowry?? Most teams would think they'd get a better player in the top 10. Of course most of the time they'd be wrong - most players drafted top 10 are much worse than those guys. The only way to get a pick that's high enough to be a 'difference maker' is to completely fail for a year. Trouble is that you then tend to completely fail for a few more years afterwards while developing and trying to build around the difference maker that you got! [take OKC as an example of how to do it quickly - it took them 5 years to rebuild through the draft] Not happening in THIS years draft!

https://twitter.com/mr_jasonjones/status/175420997527277568 This is a few days old, but I still tought it was interesting as we all know Morey and Petrie are BFFs. Now, I don't see us trading for Tyreke, but maybe some kind of 3-way with Scola going to the Kings?
Here's a ridiculous trade scenario involving just that: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7w3v2l2 Magic get a young star to replace Dwight, Nets get a solid backcourt to replace Williams, Kings get veteran leadership and a point guard, of course we'd have to give up every pick from now to 2050, and D-Will would have to give the Nets an ultimatum that he's leaving, and Brook Lopez would have to be injured. Hey, maybe it's not so out of reach
Tyreke might be an Otis Smith kind of player, but the Magic sure aren't gonna trade Howard for Tyreke. Otis Smith is not THAT bad. I also just can't see any scenario where the Nets facilitate a Howard deal.
