At the very end of CoK he and Artisa Whitebeard show up. Artisan saves her life and lets her know that they were sent by Illyrio and have ships for them.

What everyone needs to remember is that the trailer is a series of "cuts" from the TV show. So who you are led to believe the characters are talking to in the trailer aren't necessarily the ones they are talking to in the scene from the show.

i.e. Rob might be talking to someone besides Jaime or Tyrion might be talking to someone else besides Cersei.

Season 1 comes out for sale on Tuesday. You can pre-order it on bestbuy.com right now for 34.99 (Blu-ray) which is more than half off the original price of 79.99. It should be selling for that price in store on Tuesday but I'm sure it will go up to 79.99 on Wednesday.

I watched season one then read the book. I just started the second book but now I'm wondering if I should watch first then read the book. I really want to read them all and can't see myself waiting.

    Thoughts?

If you are incredibly patient, I would watch the show first then read the book. I did the books first and I think it might of diminished my watching experience of the first season. Others earlier in the thread have stated a desire to watch the show with untainted eyes.

WiC posted a shot of the CGI direwolf. I would prefer a real dog even if it did come off as too small.

I'd read the book first. It really, really helps sorting the characters out as there are so many. I remember watching the first season and being confused about the characters most of the time; it wasn't even until I read the book that I knew the names of many of them.

Same here. Read the book first, then watch the show. The books are better, anyway, and it allows you to come up with your own images of what the world looks like without HBO imposing theirs on you. Not that the show isn't great, but nothing on screen ever looks quite as good as it does in my head...

Interesting. It seemed from the comments on here that most people hated that they used dogs in season 1 and the breed they used was as close to wolves genetically as you can get.

I can't tell if Grey Wind is CG or not. As the direwolves grow, they will have to use CG for sure, if they haven't begun already. I hope it's done well!

Read the book so long ago that I've forgotten a lot of the details. In that sense, watching the show is a great experience.

Read them. As unbelievably excellent as the HBO show is, nothing is better than the original book. Ever.

I'm halfway through A Dance with Dragons and I still can't wait for season 2.

I hear ya, but isn't that a reason to see them first? That way, neither is disappointing.

Of course, knowing the story would make reading them second less intense, however not disappointing it might be.
