it is somewhat impressive because he got on the court. He was presented with choices and he seemed to go about it the right way and earn his way into playing time. I think the benching could be the best thing that happened to him. It also shows you that McHale is fair. He does not hold anything personal. I believe they can co-exist. If Mad Max and Rudy T can help each other why can't T-will and KMac...TWill has a long way to go though. He passes up open shots and probably needs to study the game more on video with the coach's help as his position is hard to put a finger on. The only issue I see is the decision on KMart, but that is more in D. Morey's court than McHale's. KMart is the most gifted shooter on the roster and deserves to start over everyone else. Is he a foxhole player that scores the tough points in the 4th quarter? Probably not, but he is easily the master of the open shot. At this point it is obvious TWill won't be coming back 2012-13. Maybe what happens the rest of the season can change things.
Lee could be a better sccorer because Martin is a volume shooter. Lee doesn't need as many shots as Martin. Tonight Martin 6/22=25 pts played little defense, 42 minutes. Courtney Lee 5/6=13 pts and played defense, 29 minutes.
Other than the bad shooting and the turnover, he did okay. He mostly made up for his mistakes with good defense on the other end.
I wasn't super impressed in his first stint tonight, but I thought he got much better later. There was a stretch there where he really made an impact. He plays with a lot of passion and gets very animated when his teammates succeed. I hope he gets time again on the road trip. The bottom line for me is this -- play him. The Rockets know more than we do as they see these guys every day, and I try to respect that, but unlike the cases of Thabeet & Flynn, it feels like not enough has been done here to get T-Will on the court. It's not a home run that he's going to develop into a solid to impact NBA player, but we won't know without playing time. The Rockets should have played him sooner, in my opinion. People get upset about the Jeremy Lin thing and that does nothing for me... it sucks they couldn't make a deal to free up the 3rd PG spot, but I understood that move. But T-Will's different... you can see talent there and the Rockets paid a price to get him. They haven't been a championship contender and they don't have any All-Stars blocking him so I don't really understand the total lack of playing time. Morey and the Rockets have said that they can see T-Will getting an opportunity somewhere and making them look bad, but how is that possibly acceptable given where the franchise is? It just ... I don't know, it just frustrates me.
I am watching the game right now and completely agree. Bill and Clyde commented, early in the second, on Williams getting a chance to find a groove on the court. Clyde put it best when he added that young players (like Williams) need consistent time and it is the coach's job -- if they want to insert a guy into the lineup -- to give the guy consistent time, be it 2, 4 or however many minutes. Just give the guy a chance to build his confidence and find consistency. For the potential payoff and the investment made, I have a hard time understanding why the franchise cannot find both a role and minutes for this guy. Rockets traded a 1st for a high potential project they won't consistently put on the court. Frustrating...
post game tweets... Terrence Williams@TheRealTWill @clutchfans tell your site when I'm back from the road trip I will take them all out to dinner an they can tell me their negative thoughts Terrence Williams@TheRealTWill @clutchfans let's see who got the balls to come, maybe no one an they will add this to their feed. All in all tell them thanks, clutch Terrence Williams@TheRealTWill @clutchfans I'm starting to wonder has anyone ever played a sport, but most likely over weight an work from home lmao
You are not very smart...but I will humor you. game before last game Martin dropped 35 on 10/15 Courtney Lee had 9 on 4/11 Call me when Courtney Lee puts in 30 points. The most he has ever averaged in a season was 12.5 @ 33.5 MPG. He is a decent spot up 3 shooter, but he is even worse than Martin at creating his own shot. HE WILL NEVER SCORE MORE THAN 15 PPG. MARK THAT DOWN.
OOOOO....OOO, I want to play!! Okay, the game before that Martin went 3-15 Scored 14 and we lost. The game before that one, Martin went 2-10 and we almost lost. Guess what he wasn't doing that whole time?? You guessed it(probably not), playing defense!! Yayyy!!! Two dumbasses arguing at 3am on Clutchfans!!!:grin: (dumbass)

T-Will looked effective when he was running the point, but when they play him off the ball...unimpressive. the problem with playing him and Dragic at the same time is he fits the exact same description above. it's almost like they hand off the ball to each other and say "ok, your turn"...then stand around and watch. Dragic is the more polished product right now, so I can see why the team has been reluctant to throw T-Will out there off the bench.
FREE DINNER FOR EVERYBODY WHO VOTED NOT IMPRESSIVE. YOU GUYS WIN. Wonder where TWill will take 205 people.
I voted "not" but will qualify it as following: he showed a couple great flashes, but outweighed it with all the forced attempts to create offense that failed. I'm more than happy to give him another chance, but maybe not in such a close game to start with.
I no longer trust McHale and Morey's talent evaluation - and they should have been playing TWill all year. It makes ZERO sense to play him now, they have no rights to him after this season, playing him now only helps him get a new contract with someone else. I just get the feeling that McHale just likes certain types of players and ignores those he doesn't like, whereas someone like Rudy would find the buttons to push on all types of players. DD
It was you who said there were no Playing Time to go around for everyone. It happened that both Twill and Budinger were benched or not in rotation. Wait for a trade..... dang it.
Exactly, I was 100% right, that is another fail job by management, too many like pieces which obviously hindered their ability to pick a direction or identify whom they should be playing. It is a failure on roster building, and talent evaluation - just a total breakdown this year. DD
Seriously? He hasn't been impressive and didn't get time. McHale said he was practicing hard and earned playing time. Bird rights doesn't matter when you have cap. Plus I doubt he would be expensive to re-sign if we wanted to keep him. If he is showing signs in practice and giving McHale reason to play him, McHale should play him. I'd rather have McHale coaching than you. You are usually wrong about everything.
Bird RIGHTS? WTF does that have to do with anything, he would have been restricted at a low price contract, and any team that would want to take a shot at having him would control him for a couple of years instead of months. Now, Morey and Co. has devalued their 09ers assets even further into just expiring contracts. You know why I ignore you? Because you take shots and seem to have little to no understanding about business or basketball. Visionaries are usually labled wrong until they are ultimately proven right. Kevin Martin is fools gold sound familiar? Stupid people label others rather than trying to figure out that maybe they have a different and varied perspective. I just see thing WAY before the average fan. Oh well. DD
Lol my god DD. If you throw out tons of uneducated guesses and decisions and eventually one them becomes true, it hardly makes you a visionary.
